Job description
The Specialist Technical Operations and Support reports to Campus Safety and Emergency Management Services (CSEMS) and supports the technical priorities of CSEMS. The position is responsible for the code-based maintenance of all software utilized by the Department, as well as integration between software., * Provide on-call technical support to troubleshoot the department's critical software/integration.
- Coordinate with Administrative Computer Systems (ACS) and Unit resources to support DPS in-car video systems, body-worn cameras, key and service weapon automated retrieval system, CSEMS issued cellular phones, applications and procedures related to the University-wide video security and electronic access control systems.
- Provide software support for a variety of systems such as ID card management databases, campus-wide camera /electronic card access systems, as well as critical integrations between software.
- Periodically conduct training for all CSEMS personnel to ensure every software system is being utilized to its full capabilities.
- Conduct documentation for any modifications to code-based systems/programs such building security systems, including camera and electronic access control locations, and system integrations.
- Research, recommend, install and support new software applications or upgrades.
- Assist in producing and analyzing query-based data reporting as requested.
- Serves as a liaison with Administrative Computing Services (ACS) for desktop (software) supported needs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or comparable education and work experience in information technology, computer science, or similar field(s) preferred.
- 3+ years relevant experience in information technologies/computer science preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
- Basic understanding of networking, IT hardware, software and wireless technologies.
- Basic understanding of web application design and development.
- SQL, HTML, CSS, C#, JavaScript, and ColdFusion language experience preferred.
- Well developed technical and written/oral communication skills.
- Interacts with others to analyze information/data, provide advice, opinions, and counsel utilizing problem-solving skills.
