Computer Scientist (Junior Level)

The selected candidate will support cloud infrastructure and software development activities for the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) NAS Innovation and Emerging Concepts (NIEC) laboratory at the William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) in Pomona, NJ. This position will primarily support cloud-based research and development efforts utilizing Amazon Web Services (AWS), containerization technologies, and modern software development practices. Candidates should possess a foundation in software engineering, programming concepts, and cloud technologies.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

• Support the development, deployment, and maintenance of cloud-based systems and applications
• Assist with the configuration and management of AWS cloud environments
• Participate in software development, testing, integration, and troubleshooting activities
• Develop and maintain software applications utilizing a variety of programming languages and technologies
• Support research, prototyping, and simulation activities, including projects utilizing the Godot game engine
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and stakeholders to develop innovative solutions supporting FAA research initiatives

• 0-2 years of relevant experience
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud technologies
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes, or Amazon EKS
• Knowledge of computer programming languages and software development principles
• Experience developing software applications using languages such as Python, C++, Java, JavaScript, Tcl, or Bash
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve software and system issues
• Experience with the Godot game engine is preferred
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
• AWS cloud certification(s) are preferred
• Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and tools such as Terraform is preferred
• Understanding of DevSecOps principles and modern software development practices is preferred

Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field. Years of relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's Degree.

Salary Range $65,000 - $70,000 Annually Available Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision, & Life Insurance.
