Job description

  1. Perform front-line troubleshooting on incoming support calls made to the Technology Help Desk. Respond to questions from callers and walk-ins and create a corresponding work order.

  2. Follow standard Help Desk operating procedures while accurately logging all Help Desk calls using the district's tracking system.

  3. Diagnose problems by asking accurate, concise questions in a professional and timely

  4. Accurately categorize and log calls, manage crisis escalation and manage technology

  5. Direct high priority calls to appropriate technology staff as

  6. Become familiar with available help resources; stay updated on technology changes or

  7. Learn fundamental operations of commonly used software, hardware, and other

  8. Assist with repairs, system upgrades, software installs, and larger projects as deemed

  9. Order/track replacement parts, track RMA repairs, and assist with department

  10. As directed, visit the Early Intervention buildings as priorities The Systems Support Technician will check to make sure all machines are working properly. It is the Systems Support Technician responsibility to work with the end users to develop a mutually agreeable schedule.

  11. As directed, address technology issues at Early Intervention

  12. Assign and manage user network IDs and login IDs for other district applications including, but not limited to, the district web site, Student Information System, Office 365, copy machines, voice mail, and the Follett library

  13. As directed, manage laptop/computing device distribution/collection to Hazleton Area Virtual

  14. Participate in regular technology meetings with staff and in training as

  15. Provide the Director of Technology with regular updates on work requests and ongoing

  16. Work with other System Support Technicians to maintain district computer images and to update these images as necessary to support instructional and administrative staff.

  17. Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as

  18. Maintain procedures manual for this department, reviewing annually and submit any revisions to supervisor at time of evaluation.

Requirements

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.

  1. College degree in computer science or a related computer/engineering.

  2. One year of work-related experience with personal computer and networking systems

  3. Possess a knowledge of technical resources and use them to effectively support district systems

  4. Experience with Windows Operating System in a desktop environment

  5. Experience with current PC technology required

  6. The candidate must be a high energy professional with enthusiastic outlook and be able to work closely with school administration and district personnel

  7. Good organization skills to balance and prioritize work

  8. Good analytical and problem-solving skills

  9. Strong interpersonal and interviewing skills to gather information from personnel

  10. Good communication skills

  11. Good personal computer and business solutions software skills

  12. Current Act 34, Act 114 and Act 151 clearances

  13. The person, while performing in this position, will be required to:

  14. Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to talk and hear;

  15. Sit, stand, walk, and occasionally be required to stoop, kneel and crouch;

  16. Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus;

  17. Have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and

  18. Possess effective judgment; communication, mathematical, planning and human relations skills; and will be required to work under periods of stress due to the level of position responsibility.
