Job description
- Build, iterate, and launch models to a production environment focused on predicting outcomes in sports.
- Train machine learning models and build statistical modeling frameworks using custom methods, or using xgboost, sklearn, pytorch, etc.
- Manage SQL queries to ensure data pipelines are efficient, accurate, and up to date.
- Rigorously backtest models to ensure highly accurate predictions., Centered around real-money over/under predictions, PrizePicks allows sports fans to play against the numbers rather than each other, and it is the simplest variety of daily fantasy sports with the widest breadth of sports coverage of any DFS operator.
Requirements
- Demonstrable history of projects that are either sports-focused or are related to building novel approaches to machine learning.
- Strong technical or math/statistics background. Computer science, statistics, math, physics, economics, etc.
- Strong coding skills and ability to code without being fully dependent on AI tools - Python, SQL.
- Interest in sports betting, prediction markets, financial markets, or fantasy sports.
- Proven ability to build sophisticated models, not just out of the box templates.
- Deep passion for sports. Not just a casual fan, but someone who deeply knows the ins and outs of a few sports.
What makes you stand out:
- Experience with lower-level programming languages - Rust, Java, C++.
- Demonstrable background/coursework building machine learning algorithms from scratch.
- Success in open-source projects e.g. Big Data Bowl, Kaggle, school research labs.
- Proven and verifiable background building algorithmic origination, modeling, or trading strategies.
- Work experience with a professional sports team., You must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
Benefits & conditions
The typical salary range for this position is $85,000 to $115,000. At PrizePicks, we consider your role, level, and where you'll be working when determining our salary ranges.
