Job description
We are looking for a highly skilled C++ Developer to join our team in Portsmouth, NH. In this role, you will work on developing and maintaining high-performance applications in a Unix-based environment, with a strong focus on database integration and legacy system modernization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system stability, performance, and scalability while supporting critical business applications.
In this role, you will:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using C++ in UNIX/AIX environments
- Work with embedded SQL within C/C++ applications to ensure efficient database interaction
- Design, develop, and optimize queries for Sybase ASE and SQL Server databases
- Configure and troubleshoot database connectivity using ODBC, FreeTDS, and unixODBC
- Write and maintain shell scripts (ksh/bash) for automation and batch processing
- Implement and support Open Rating Platform (Open RP) or policy-based calculation logic
- Analyze, debug, and refactor legacy code to improve performance and maintainability
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver enhancements and ensure system reliability
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience in C++ programming
- Proven experience with ODBC connectivity frameworks
- Experience working with embedded SQL in C/C++ applications
- Solid understanding of Sybase ASE and SQL Server databases
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments
- Hands-on experience with shell scripting (ksh/bash)
- Strong troubleshooting skills in database connectivity (FreeTDS, unixODBC)
- Experience analyzing and modernizing legacy codebases
This will help you stand out
- Knowledge of Open Rating Platform (Open RP) or policy-based calculation systems
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise or legacy modernization projects
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional and distributed teams
Benefits & conditions
The annual salary for this position is between $60,000 to $93,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
