Job description
The Supervisor of AI Software Engineering is an integral part of Latham's Technology & Information Services team. This role will be responsible for leading a team of engineers responsible for the design and development of full-stack Machine Learning (ML) and Generative AI (GenAI) applications and workflows tailored to optimize existing legal and business processes, while leading project planning, prioritization, and execution in partnership with the leadership team. This role will be located in our Global Services Office in Downtown Los Angeles. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence., * Ensuring team adherence to firmwide policies, procedures, and development practices, promoting a culture of accountability and consistency across all initiatives
- Setting and reinforcing best practices for software quality, documentation, testing, and delivery
- Defining, implementing, and overseeing DevOps practices and production support processes for deployed AI applications
- Contributing to the entire lifecycle of application development including concept, design, test, release, and support
- Balancing multiple concurrent initiatives while maintaining focus on quality and timely delivery
- Providing technical leadership by mentoring engineers, conducting code-reviews, and ensuring work is well-scoped
- Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
Requirements
- Exhibit proficiency with Python including experience with libraries and frameworks relevant to ML/GenAI application development (e.g., LangChain)
- Demonstrate proficiency with API development frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, FastAPI) and knowledge of web standards relating to API development (e.g., CORS, OpenAPI)
- Possess experience with DevOps processes (CI/CD/CT, Test-Driven Development) and tools (Git, Azure DevOps)
And have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science or related fields
- A minimum of eight (8) years of industry experience with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in an agile development environment
- A minimum of six (6) years of industry experience in full stack AI application development
