Cloud Engineer IIThe Cloud Engineer II will design, implement, and support cloud-native platform and data solutions in Azure, with moderate to high complexity. This role is expected to operate independently across day-to-day engineering tasks, with strong hands-on responsibility for Azure infrastructure, Azure Databricks environments, SQL-based data processing, and secure cloud connectivity. The engineer partners across infrastructure, security, analytics, and application teams to improve platform reliability, automation, performance, and networking integration., * Design, implement, and maintain scalable Azure-based infrastructure and data platform components.
- Build, support, and optimize Azure Databricks workspaces, notebooks, jobs, clusters, and integrations.
- Develop and tune SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data validation logic supporting analytics and operational workloads.
- Implement and support Azure networking and connectivity patterns including VNets, subnet design, NSGs, private endpoints, service endpoints, DNS dependencies, and hybrid connectivity coordination.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues across Azure infrastructure, Azure Databricks, storage accounts, SQL services, identity controls, and integration points.
- Implement infrastructure and configuration changes using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitor platform performance, reliability, cost, and connectivity health; recommend and execute improvements.
- Partner with data engineering and analytics teams on ingestion, transformation, and operationalization of data solutions.
- Apply security, compliance, and governance controls across Azure resources, data services, and network access patterns.
- Create technical documentation, runbooks, support models, and implementation standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- 3-6 years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or data platform engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure core services.
- Practical experience administering and supporting Azure Databricks in production environments.
- Strong SQL skills, including query optimization, data modeling support, transformation logic, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of Azure networking, including VNet integration, subnetting, NSGs, private endpoints, secure service connectivity, and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Experience with Python and/or PowerShell for automation and operational support.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM.
- Understanding of cloud networking, IAM, monitoring, backup/recovery, and platform security controls.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Event Hubs, or Delta Lake.
- Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration, DevOps practices, and release automation.
- Exposure to hybrid connectivity patterns involving VPN, ExpressRoute coordination, or enterprise DNS integration.
- Azure Administrator, Azure Data Engineer, or similar certification.
- Experience in regulated, enterprise, or production-critical environments.
