Job description

  • System Administrator III provides advanced systems administration support for Defense Health Agency (DHA) Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs), ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise IT infrastructure. This position is responsible for administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting servers, operating systems, applications, and related technologies that support critical healthcare and business operations.
  • System Administrator III performs complex technical troubleshooting, implements system upgrades and enhancements, monitors system performance, and supports cybersecurity and compliance requirements. The role works closely with Government stakeholders and IT teams to maintain secure, efficient, and highly available systems while supporting end-user and operational mission requirements across the healthcare enterprise.

Functional Responsibility:

  • Designated with managing, maintaining, and optimizing IT systems and infrastructure at 56th Medical Group, Luke AFB.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for IT-related concerns, offering advanced troubleshooting for complex technical issues, including system outages, performance degradation, and security incidents.
  • System Administrator III is designated with managing, maintaining, and optimizing IT systems and infrastructure to support the performance associated with the PWS.
  • Assist with server operating systems, virtual environments, enterprise applications, and specialized IT tasks such as networking, scripting, system integration, and architecture recommendations for hardware and software products.
  • Manages complex server/network infrastructure including virtualization, cloud systems, and high-availability configurations.
  • Provides SIPR support including maintaining active SIPR accounts and deploying classified systems.
  • Uses MHS-SHD ServiceNow ITSM tool to support all defined ITSM processes by ticket priority.
  • Supports ISSO duties as needed: RMF compliance, patch management, eMASS updates, user access controls.
  • Performs General Cybersecurity Support: incident response, system monitoring, and maintaining security documentation.
  • Manages Standard Network Operations: routers, switches, wireless APs, VLANs, network policies.
  • Supports Standard Telecommunications: voice/data cable installation, testing, and management.
  • Supports Intermediate Data Center Operations: RBAC, capacity planning, technical assessments.
  • Assists with architecture and engineering recommendations, hardware/software testing.
  • Contributes to Monthly Progress Report.

Requirements

  • 10 Years of applicable Systems Administration experience.
  • Managing and maintaining IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and applications, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution skills for complex technical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Breadth across sysadmin, network ops, telecom/cabling, ISSO support, and data center operations.
  • Performs more independent thinking and difficult tasks; may supervise others.
  • Advanced experience administering enterprise server and workstation environments supporting DHA/DoD operations.
  • Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, patching, and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Server environments.
  • Experience supporting Active Directory, Group Policy, authentication services, domain administration, and account management.
  • Experience supporting virtualized enterprise environments such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Experience supporting integrated network infrastructure, connectivity troubleshooting, and enterprise infrastructure coordination.
  • Experience supporting enterprise desktop systems, endpoint configurations, and workstation lifecycle management.
  • Experience implementing cybersecurity controls, applying STIGs, supporting vulnerability remediation, and maintaining secure system configurations.
  • Experience supporting system backup operations, disaster recovery processes, and continuity of operations support.
  • Experience supporting network drops, cabling coordination, telecommunications systems, and infrastructure integration.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for server, desktop, authentication, and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Experience using ITSM/service desk systems for incident, problem, and change management activities.
  • Experience maintaining system documentation, configuration records, operational reporting, and SLA/performance metric support.
  • Experience supporting DHA, DoD, or healthcare IT systems preferred due to Military Treatment Facility operational environment.
  • Supports operational reporting, performance metrics, SLA tracking, and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure high availability of enterprise systems; support mission-critical healthcare IT operations; minimize downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Enterprise DHA/Military Treatment Facility healthcare IT environment.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalency.
  • ITIL 4 Foundation (PREFERRED).

Certification Requirements: IAT II Certified is Required to Start
