Low-Speed Aircraft Performance Software Developer Job Description: An opportunity for a Software Developer has arisen within Airbus Operations, Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate will join the Airbus Flight Physics Capability Operations team (1GZC). The 1GZC team is a transnational and multidisciplinary team responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining a rich portfolio of Aircraft Performance Modelling Simulation tools. We develop the software that enables our aircraft to fly safely and efficiently in all flight phases and equip aircraft avionics systems with on-board performance data. In this role, you will work at the heart of aircraft performance engineering: - Low-Speed Flight Regimes: You will work with OCTOPUS (our certified A/C performance software built on Fortran77) and contribute to Optima , a Python-based simulation backbone preparing the next-generation kernels. - On-Board Tools: You will help evolve tools that generate and deliver performance databases embedded within critical avionics functions, like the Flight Management System (FMS). - Future Innovation: You will help prepare for future advancements, such as single-pilot operations and optimized flight operations benefiting from new IT systems and computing resources. RESPONSIBILITIES The main tasks of the jobholder will be: - Requirements Capture: Translate internal Airbus end-users needs into tangible objectives, software specifications, and user stories. - Software Development Implementation: Implement required software modifications with the support of an experienced subcontracting software development team. -

Testing Verification: Perform software verification testing, including the definition of robust acceptance criteria. - User Support: Support internal end-users (Aircraft Performance domain Customer Services) by investigating and resolving identified problems in a timely manner. - Project Management: Handle administrative and project tasks associated with the software portfolio, including the management of subcontracting activities. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Flight Physics and Customer Services colleagues to design the tool landscape of the future and grow your business process knowledge. SKILLS Is your profile aligned to the following list of skills? Apply! We are looking forward to knowing you: - Education: Aeronautical, Industrial, Software Engineering degree or a related discipline. - Technical Knowledge: Strong software development skills. A solid knowledge of Linux environments and DevOps / CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Artifactory) is required. - Soft Skills: High adaptability, enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, problem-solving mindset, and a can-do attitude to work effectively with local, transnational, and subcontractor teams. - Languages: Advanced level in English (working language of the transnational team). - Valuable / Nice to Have: Experience/knowledge in Python, C/C++, Java, Matlab, SimuLINK, or Fortran. - Specific experience with Fortran (highly valued for the OCTOPUS scope/high-performance computing). - Familiarity with Matlab/SimuLINK (beneficial for On-Board Tools). - General knowledge of Flight Physics, Aircraft Performance, or Airline Operations.
