Working alongside Java Engineers, they must concurrently oversee test tooling development and independently deliver the monitoring and alerting architecture definition. Responsible for building integration with upstream data stores and the quant library. They are the technical interface between risk engine, data services, compute, and quant teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Own the end-to-end integration architecture: Data ingestion into Risk and P&L batches, quant library
-
Deliver the monitoring and alerting architecture definition for all Services in GCP Platform
-
Drive quant library integration across all P&L batch job types
-
Lead the interface design for interactive pricing, coordinating with the compute architect
-
Triage and prioritise the parallel run debug queue
-
Code review and quality gate for all deliverables; enforce unit test coverage standards
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS - MANDATORY
-
Expert Java development (7+ years): distributed batch processing, event-driven microservices, high-throughput data pipelines in production environments
-
GCP architecture - design-level: GKE cluster design, CloudRun service architecture, BigTable schema optimisation, PubSub/Kafka topology design, MemoryStore configuration for low-latency workloads
-
Production observability architecture: designing monitoring stacks (metrics, distributed tracing, alerting), dashboard frameworks, structured logging
-
Rust interoperability from a Java host: gRPC, Protocol Buffers, or JNI-based cross-language integration
-
Risk batch architecture familiarity: scenario-based computation patterns, job orchestration, sensitivity calculation pipelines
-
CI/CD pipeline ownership: Jenkins, Terraform, Helm
DOMAIN CONTEXT - PREFERRED
-
Investment bank risk technology background: experience building or integrating with risk computation systems
