Job description
We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join a high-impact programme, helping to develop data-driven insights, dashboards, and reporting products for a large-scale service.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a modern data environment, applying advanced analytics and data exploration techniques to support informed decision-making.
The Role
You will be responsible for exploring and analysing complex datasets, developing robust data assets, and ensuring high-quality outputs for reporting and visualisation.
You'll work within an Agile, multidisciplinary team, collaborating closely with Engineers, Analysts, and UCD professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to generate insights and inform decision-making
- Develop and test datasets for dashboards and reporting products
- Work with engineering teams to define data pipeline requirements
- Identify and mitigate data quality risks
- Collaborate within an Agile environment to deliver high-quality outputs
- Contribute to best practices including DevSecOps, TDD, and CI/CD
- Participate in pair programming and follow collaborative coding standards
Requirements
- Strong experience in Python, PySpark, and exploratory data analysis
- Experience working with Palantir platforms (including FDP)
- Familiarity with BI and data platforms such as Redshift, Databricks, or equivalent
- Ability to work independently and proactively within Agile teams
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (including UCD)
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Understanding of modern engineering practices (DevSecOps, CI/CD, TDD)
Desirable
- Experience working with UK healthcare data / NHS datasets
Additional Requirements
- Must be a UK National with at least 5 years of continuous UK residency
- Must be eligible for BPSS clearance
