Job description
- Manage and optimize a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux server infrastructure, ensuring reliable and secure IT operations.
- Mentor and guide junior administrators across a broad range of responsibilities, including corrective and preventive maintenance, routine operational tasks, account management, and system performance tuning.
- Lead a team of system administrators to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of assigned IT systems and applications.
- Oversee and advise on tasks such as configuring administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing enterprise software, and managing computing and storage resources.
- Partner with Cybersecurity teams to maintain compliance with security requirements and provide documentation, training, and guidance on advanced IT processes and procedures.
- Participate in Change Request reviews and serve on Change Management Boards at various program levels.
- Coordinate technical and process document reviews while troubleshooting and resolving system administration, engineering, and integration issues.
- Lead and contribute to technical meetings with internal teams and program stakeholders, representing the organization on functional matters.
- Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours.
- Travel to other US Domestic locations may be required as business needs dictate. Up to 10% per year.
- Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) within a reasonable amount of time.
Requirements
Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date, * Typically requires a university degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required on day 1. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Must have working experience with the following technologies: Active Directory Domain Services, VMware vCenter or vSphere, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Client and Server, TCP/IP, DNS.
- Must have experience in leading and mentoring both individuals and teams., * Organizational skills to include attention to detail, time management and ability to multitask.
- Experience working with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, and/or DoD/RMF guidelines.
- Experience with Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems.
- Experience with configuration and maintenance of networking switch and firewall devices.
- Experience with legacy system i.e. Solaris 8/9/10, Microsoft Server 2008/2012/2016. Windows NT/XP/7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4/5/6.
Benefits & conditions
The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
