Job description
We're looking for a Data Scientist who is, first and foremost, a strong programmer. You'll keep our catalog accurate and consistent. You'll load new products. You'll make big updates to thousands of listings at once. And you'll build the scripts that keep our product, paint code, and fitment data clean. We're always adding new products and brands, and you'll be the one who gets that data in cleanly. This is hands-on coding work. It is not dashboards or reports.
The right person writes clear, reliable Python. You're not thrown off by messy data. You'd rather automate a task once than do it by hand a thousand times. You'll work closely with our data and web development teams.
Key Responsibilities
Keep our catalog correct and consistent across tens of thousands of products.
Upload new products. Add new brands and product lines as we grow.
Write Python to clean, check, and bulk-load large product files.
Build and maintain scripts that keep the catalog correct over time.
Make mass changes to prices, titles, descriptions, and other fields across thousands of items at once.
Manage product data in Shopify, including metaobjects, to model parts, paint codes, and fitment.
Automate routine data tasks so they run on their own.
Work with supplier feeds and match them to our catalog in code.
Clean up messy text using regex and fuzzy matching.
Catch and fix data problems before they reach the site. Build checks to catch them on their own.
Requirements
Strong Python skills are required. You write clean, clear code (pandas, NumPy, or similar).
You can build scripts and small data pipelines from scratch.
You're strong with SQL and can pull data from more than one place.
Experience with Shopify - and metaobjects - is a big plus.
You're at ease with large data files. Excel skills are a plus.
You can clean and match messy text (regex, fuzzy matching).
You're careful with detail when working at scale - thousands of records at a time.
You can work on your own and finish what you start.
Nice to Have
Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
1-3 years in a data, software, or analytics role.
Background in online retail or product data work.
Some exposure to auto parts data or product fit data.
Experience adding products from supplier feeds or new brands.
Experience with Git and writing tested, reusable code.
Benefits & conditions
Competitive salary.
HMO medical plans.
Dental and vision coverage.
401(k) with company match.
Paid holidays and sick time.
Employee discounts.
