Job description
The Technology Specialist II is responsible for supporting and maintaining end-user devices, business applications, network infrastructure, and cybersecurity controls throughout the organization. In addition to providing advanced technical support, this position plays an active role in protecting the Credit Union's information systems by assisting with cybersecurity operations, vulnerability management, security monitoring, regulatory compliance, and incident response activities. The Technology Specialist II serves as a technical resource for both operational and security-related initiatives and works closely with IT leadership to maintain a secure and compliant technology environment., * Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support via phone, email, remote support, and in-person assistance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and application-related issues.
- Install, configure, maintain, and support desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
- Support Microsoft 365 services including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and Entra ID.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, password resets, group memberships, and access controls within Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of network connectivity issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, wireless networks, VLANs, and switching infrastructure.
- Assist with deployment, configuration, and maintenance of network equipment including switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and related infrastructure.
- Monitor security platforms, endpoint protection systems, vulnerability scanners, SIEM tools, and security alerts for potential threats or suspicious activity.
- Investigate, document, and assist in responding to cybersecurity incidents, security alerts, and policy violations.
- Review vulnerability assessment results and participate in remediation efforts to reduce organizational risk.
- Support endpoint security solutions including endpoint detection and response (EDR), antivirus, device encryption, USB/device control, multi-factor authentication, and access management controls.
- Assist with security awareness initiatives, phishing prevention efforts, and cybersecurity best practice education for staff.
- Participate in security audits, risk assessments, compliance reviews, and regulatory examinations.
- Assist with the implementation and enforcement of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and technical security controls.
- Perform security-focused system hardening, patch management, operating system updates, and software maintenance.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with organizational security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation including network diagrams, inventory records, support procedures, security procedures, and system configurations.
- Support backup verification, disaster recovery testing, and business continuity activities.
- Participate in IT projects involving infrastructure upgrades, cybersecurity enhancements, and technology implementations.
- May be required to provide after-hours support for maintenance activities, security incidents, and critical system issues.
- Maintain confidentiality of member, employee, and Credit Union information in accordance with Credit Union policies and applicable regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Internal employee customer service?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * Three (3) or more years of experience in information technology support, networking, cybersecurity, or systems administration.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Working knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, wireless networking, routing, and switching.
- Experience working with cybersecurity technologies such as endpoint protection, SIEM platforms, vulnerability management tools, email security solutions, and multi-factor authentication.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles including threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, security monitoring, phishing prevention, access control, and data protection.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements applicable to financial institutions preferred.
- Experience supporting security audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Networking, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
- Industry certifications such as Security+, CySA+, Network+, Microsoft Security Certifications, or equivalent certifications preferred.
- Experience within a financial institution or other regulated environment preferred.
Additional Details
Travel: Must be able to travel between Credit Union locations as business needs require.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and move technology equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
