As a Senior Data Scientist at Walmart, you will leverage advanced analytical techniques and domain expertise to identify, develop, and deploy data-driven solutions that support strategic business objectives. About the team: The Customer Decision Science team leverages advanced data science and predictive analytics to support strategic business decisions. By applying expertise in machine learning, data visualization, and statistical methods, the team transforms complex data into actionable insights. Collaborating across functions, members develop and validate scalable models aligned with business goals to improve customer outcomes. The team prioritizes data quality, continuous improvement, and innovation within a professional environment. It fosters knowledge sharing and delivers measurable value through data-driven strategies that advance organizational objectives and drive impactful results.
What you'll do:
- Identify and assess relevant data sources to ensure quality and fit-for-purpose datasets.
- Develop, validate, and deploy advanced analytical models using statistical and machine learning techniques.
- Design and implement data pipelines and workflows to support scalable model deployment.
- Perform exploratory data analysis and feature engineering to enhance model accuracy and business insights.
- Create clear and impactful data visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into data-driven solutions.
- Mentor junior associates on analytical methods and best practices.
- Ensure adherence to data governance, quality standards, and coding/testing protocols.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in data science, machine learning, and predictive modeling to solve complex business problems.
- Proficiency in Python and R programming languages for code development, testing, and data analysis.
- Strong knowledge of statistical methods, exploratory data analysis, and advanced analytical modeling techniques.
- Expertise in data visualization tools and best practices to effectively communicate insights to stakeholders.
- Ability to identify, assess, and select appropriate data sources and ensure data quality and governance compliance.
- Experience deploying and scaling analytical models in production environments with attention to performance and sustainability.

Option 1- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 2- Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
