Job description
FGS, LLC is seeking a motivated System Administrator to support the Office of Naval Intelligence in Suitland, Maryland. We are looking for a capable administrator with expertise in enterprise IT infrastructure, network operations, and system security. This position will be responsible for sustaining mission-critical intelligence systems and secure computing environments., * Administer and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, supporting a large number of users across global locations.
- Manage Enterprise Active Directory, including user provisioning, access control, and Group Policy.
- Resolve technical trouble tickets for system, network, and hardware issues to minimize downtime.
- Configure and maintain Cisco network switches and firewalls to improve performance and mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Install and upgrade IT hardware, including workstations and networked printers.
- Monitor system performance and asset health using tools like Solarwinds.
- Test and implement security protocols in accordance with DoD and DoN cybersecurity standards.
- Maintain documentation, configuration baselines, and change records.
- Provide escalation support for end-users.
- Recommend technical improvements to increase reliability, performance, and security.
- Lead and train junior technicians on IT procedures and security practices.
Requirements
Required Education: (Minimum for hire) Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or engineering discipline; Computer science or IT discipline; Technical discipline, * U.S. Citizenship
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+).
- Minimum 3 years of IT systems administration experience in an enterprise environment.
- Experience performing the above functions on DoD/IC communication systems or networks.
- Demonstrated experience leading or training technical teams.
- Strong experience with:
- Windows Server and Active Directory administration.
- Cisco switch configuration and network troubleshooting.
- System performance and asset monitoring tools.
- Troubleshooting complex hardware, OS, and application issues.
- Supporting secure, classified environments.
Desired Qualification:
- Experience supporting the Office of Naval Intelligence, Department of Defense, or Intelligence Community customers.
- Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with endpoint management tools (SCCM, MECM, WSUS).
- Experience with NIPR, SIPR, and/or JWICS enclaves.

- Typical office environment.
- Must be able to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods.
- Occasional standing while working in server rooms or at patch panels.
- Must be able to lift and move moderately heavy equipment (e.g., routers, switches, servers) typically up to 30-50 pounds.
- Manual Dexterity required for connecting cables, configuring devices, and handling small tools or components.
- Must be able to view computer screens for long periods.
- Ability to distinguish color-coded documents, cabling, and indicator lights.
- Must be able to climb ladders or crawl in tight spaces for cable runs or equipment installation.
- May require walking between different buildings or workstations.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with technical teams and end-users.
