Job Summary: Tri-State Motor Transit is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Telematics Specialist to support the company's fleet technology and asset management initiatives. This position serves as a key liaison between Operations, Maintenance, Drivers, Recruiting, technology vendors, and external business partners to ensure fleet communication, tracking, and telematics systems are properly deployed, maintained, and operating efficiently.
The Telematics Specialist will coordinate fleet technology activities, provide support to drivers and internal personnel, maintain equipment inventories and records, assist with vendor relationships, and support asset management efforts across the organization.

Coordinate the deployment, assignment, auditing, deactivation, return, and inventory management of fleet technology and communication devices.

Monitor and support in-cab communication, telematics, tracking, and related fleet technology systems.

Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support to drivers and internal personnel regarding fleet technology equipment and services.

Coordinate equipment installations, repairs, replacements, and warranty services with maintenance personnel, vendors, and service providers.

Work directly with technology vendors and business partners to support asset registration, testing, configuration, and system performance.

Monitor fleet technology systems and device performance to identify equipment requiring maintenance, replacement, repair, software updates, troubleshooting, or shop attention.

Analyze reports and system data to ensure equipment inventories, asset assignments, and service subscriptions remain accurate and cost-effective.

Maintain records related to fleet technology equipment, asset assignments, inventory, and vendor activities.

Perform other duties as assigned in support of fleet technology, telematics, asset management, and operational efficiency initiatives.
Assigned Work Region:
This position is based in Joplin, Missouri and requires regular physical presence in the assigned workplace. Primary duties consist of office and administrative work in a fast-paced environment involving frequent communication with drivers, vendors, maintenance personnel, and internal departments. Occasional travel may be required.

Requirements
Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate concepts and information effectively. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to adapt to changing technologies, processes, and business requirements. Knowledge: Working knowledge of fleet technology, telematics, asset tracking, transportation operations, and related business systems. Ability to identify, research, and resolve operational and technical issues through analysis and collaboration with internal and external partners. Experience: Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a complex, dynamic, and fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. Scope of Responsibility: Follows established procedures and policies while exercising sound judgment in identifying, researching, and resolving issues. May prioritize tasks and manage time with direction from supervisor. Errors may impact fleet operations, customer service, equipment utilization, and organizational financial performance.
Internal/External Contacts: Frequent communication with drivers, operations personnel, maintenance personnel, vendors, service providers, and external business partners. Communication is continuous and often requires problem resolution and coordination across multiple departments.
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance., Manual Dexterity-Constantly Use of Video Display Terminal- Constantly Use of Telephone- Constantly Verbal Communication-Constantly Ability to Travel-Some travel may be required
