Job description
- Ensure systems are monitored to increase operational efficiency and managed to mitigate risk
- Define opportunities to maximize resource utilization and improve processes while reducing cost
- Lead, design, develop, test and implement applications and system components, tools and utilities, models, simulation, and analytics to manage complex business functions using sophisticated technologies
- Resolve coding, testing and escalated platform issues of a technically challenging nature
- Lead team to ensure compliance and risk management requirements for supported area are met and work with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
- Mentor less experienced software engineers
- Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including managers
- Lead team to achieve objectives
- Partner with production support and platform engineering teams effectively
Requirements
- 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 5+ years of hands-on experience administering Oracle databases (11g/12c/19c+), including installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup/recovery (RMAN), and patching within the financial services industry
- Strong expertise in Oracle architecture and core technologies (RAC, Data Guard, ASM), along with advanced SQL/PLSQL and troubleshooting in high-availability production environments, * Experience supporting Oracle environments within financial services, particularly Core Banking platforms (e.g., FLEXCUBE, Finacle, T24)
- Familiarity with cloud-based Oracle deployments (OCI, AWS RDS for Oracle, or Azure) and migration strategies
- Knowledge of database security best practices, encryption, auditing, and regulatory compliance (e.g., SOX, PCI, FFIEC)
- Experience with automation/scripting (Shell, Python, or Ansible) for database provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance
- Exposure to enterprise monitoring tools (OEM, SolarWinds, Splunk) and performance optimization in large-scale, mission-critical systems
