Job description

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking an exceptional Senior Director of Engineering to lead the organization responsible for infrastructure planning, forecasting, sourcing coordination, and capacity management across Oracle's global cloud footprint.

This leader will own the engineering strategy, execution, and operational maturity of the platforms, services, and processes that enable Oracle to plan, build, and scale cloud infrastructure worldwide. The organization plays a critical role in supporting Oracle's rapidly expanding cloud business by ensuring infrastructure investments, data center expansion, capacity forecasting, and supply planning are executed with precision and scale.

The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary engineering organization responsible for developing the systems and operational frameworks used to manage billions of dollars in infrastructure investment and support Oracle's global data center growth strategy.

This role requires a unique combination of technical depth, operational excellence, organizational leadership, and executive influence. The Senior Director will partner closely with OCI engineering leaders, infrastructure operations, finance, supply chain, Fusion development teams, Global Business Units (GBUs), and executive leadership to drive strategic initiatives across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing engineering organization focused on infrastructure planning and capacity management.
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain engineering managers, senior engineers, architects, and technical leaders.
  • Establish a culture of operational excellence, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Define organizational strategy, operating models, and execution frameworks that support OCI's long-term growth objectives.

Engineering Strategy & Execution

  • Own the roadmap and delivery of engineering systems supporting infrastructure forecasting, planning, sourcing, deployment readiness, and capacity management.
  • Drive development of scalable platforms, services, workflows, and automation that improve visibility, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead large-scale engineering initiatives spanning multiple OCI organizations and business units.
  • Establish engineering standards, governance processes, and operational metrics across the organization.

Infrastructure Planning & Capacity Management

  • Partner with OCI infrastructure, supply chain, finance, and operations teams to support global infrastructure planning and investment decisions.
  • Drive improvements in forecasting accuracy, capacity planning models, infrastructure utilization, and deployment readiness.
  • Help shape long-range infrastructure growth strategies supporting Oracle's global cloud expansion.
  • Ensure planning systems and operational processes scale to support rapidly growing cloud demand.

Executive Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to VP, SVP, and EVP leadership across OCI.
  • Lead executive reviews, business planning cycles, strategic initiatives, and operational readiness programs.
  • Communicate organizational priorities, risks, investment opportunities, and execution progress to senior leadership.
  • Drive alignment across highly matrixed organizations with competing priorities and dependencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field.
  • 15+ years of software engineering, cloud infrastructure, or enterprise technology experience.
  • 8+ years of engineering leadership experience, including managing managers and senior technical leaders.
  • Proven track record leading large engineering organizations responsible for mission-critical systems or cloud infrastructure platforms.
  • Experience developing and executing organizational strategy, roadmaps, and operating plans.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives across engineering, operations, finance, and business organizations.
  • Exceptional communication, executive presentation, and stakeholder management skills., * Experience in hyperscale cloud environments, including OCI, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or comparable infrastructure organizations.
  • Experience with capacity planning, infrastructure forecasting, fleet management, hardware lifecycle management, or data center operations.
  • Familiarity with supply chain systems, infrastructure sourcing, procurement planning, or deployment operations.
  • Experience building platforms that support large-scale operational decision making.
  • Knowledge of FinOps, CloudOps, operational analytics, and infrastructure economics.
  • MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.

Benefits & conditions

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $141,200 to $414,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
