Job description
The DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and operating scalable, secure, and automated software delivery platforms on Azure. This role enables engineering teams to deliver high-quality applications through standardized CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and observability practices.
The individual will partner with development, SRE, security, and infrastructure teams to improve deployment velocity, system reliability, and operational efficiency through DevOps best practices and tooling.
This is a hybrid position with an on-call rotation. The selected candidate must reside a commutable distance to one of the following locations. Richardson, Tx, Northbrook, Il and Scottsdale, AZ
Primary Responsibilities
- CI/CD & Release Engineering - Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Azure Pipelines
- Automate build, test, and deployment workflows across development, test, and production environments
- Establish standardized pipeline templates, branching strategies, and release governance
- Support deployment strategies including blue/green, canary, and rolling deployments
- Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Engineering - Provision and manage Azure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (ARM, Bicep, Terraform)
- Manage cloud services including compute, storage, networking, and identity
- Optimize infrastructure for availability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
- Reliability, Monitoring & Incident Support - Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using enterprise tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Splunk)
- Support incident response, root cause analysis, and production stability improvements
- Identify and resolve system performance issues and bottlenecks proactively
- Security & Compliance (DevSecOps) - Integratesecurity controls and compliance checks into CI/CD pipelines (SAST, DAST, dependency scanning)
- Manage secrets and credentials using secure vault solutions (e.g., Azure Key Vault)
- Ensure adherence to enterprise security, audit, and governance standards
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline development and deployment processes
- Drive automation-first practices and continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to documentation, standards, and knowledge sharing across teams
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or related role
- Hands-on experience with Azure cloud platform (IaaS and PaaS services), GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps pipelines, CI/CD pipeline design and implementation
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, or Bicep)
- Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, or Bash)
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes/AKS)
- Strong understanding of version control systems (Git)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise DevOps tools and frameworks
- Knowledge of SRE practices (SLIs, SLOs, incident management)
- Experience with monitoring/observability platforms
- Microsoft certification (e.g., Azure DevOps Engineer Expert)
- Experience in regulated environments (healthcare, finance)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, production-critical environment
- Effective collaboration and communication across distributed teams
- Focus on automation, reliability, and continuous improvement
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
