Job description
Sikich is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support secure, reliable network infrastructures for client environments. This role emphasizes hands-on delivery and operational support across switching, routing, wireless, firewalls, SD-WAN, VPN connectivity, and network monitoring platforms, with responsibility for the devices, tools, and documentation required to build, optimize, and troubleshoot modern network environments.
What will you do in this role?

Implement, configure, and support core network infrastructure including routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, VPN appliances, and SD-WAN platforms.

Assist in building and maintaining LAN, WAN, wireless, and internet edge environments, including VLAN design, routing, switching, DHCP, DNS, and site-to-site or remote access connectivity.

Perform network deployments, upgrades, cutovers, and hardware refresh activities for branch, campus, and data center environments.

Use network management and troubleshooting tools such as monitoring platforms, configuration backups, logging tools, packet capture utilities, and vendor management portals to identify issues and maintain performance.

Troubleshoot network outages, performance bottlenecks, routing issues, firewall rules, wireless coverage concerns, and connectivity problems using a structured diagnostic approach.

Support security-focused network operations by implementing and maintaining VPNs, segmentation, access control policies, high availability, and secure remote connectivity solutions.

Document network topology, device inventories, IP schemes, circuit details, configurations, implementation plans, and support procedures to ensure operational continuity.

Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, carriers, and client stakeholders to deliver network projects on schedule and with clear communication.

Provide day-to-day technical support for client environments, including incident response, problem resolution, maintenance windows, and post-implementation validation.

Recommend practical improvements to network infrastructure, lifecycle planning, resiliency, and toolsets that improve stability, visibility, and supportability.

Manage time effectively against assigned budgets, maintain accurate documentation and time entry, and escalate risks or blockers as appropriate.

Continue developing technical expertise through training, certifications, and hands-on experience with current networking platforms and operational tools.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, infrastructure support, or consulting roles with responsibility for implementation and ongoing operations.
- Experience deploying and supporting network infrastructure components such as routers, switches, wireless systems, firewalls, SD-WAN appliances, VPN platforms, and internet circuits.
- Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, routing protocols, switching, NAT, DHCP, DNS, wireless networking, and network segmentation.
- Hands-on experience with leading network vendors and platforms such as Cisco, Fortinet, HPE Aruba, Palo Alto, Meraki, or similar enterprise networking technologies.
- Experience using operational and support tools such as network monitoring systems, configuration backup tools, logging and alerting platforms, packet capture tools, and documentation systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot network and security issues across LAN, WAN, wireless, and perimeter environments and clearly communicate findings and resolution steps.
- Familiarity with network security concepts including VPNs, firewall policy management, secure remote access, MFA integration, and Zero Trust principles.
- Understanding of network documentation standards, change management practices, implementation planning, and post-deployment validation.
- Exposure to cloud-connected and hybrid infrastructure, including Azure networking, Microsoft 365 connectivity, and data center interconnects, is preferred.
- Associate- or professional-level certifications such as CCNA, Fortinet NSE/FCP, Aruba, Palo Alto, or equivalent are preferred.
- Four-year college degree or equivalent combination of technical training and relevant industry experience.
- Willingness to travel for limited client engagement requirements, approximately 10% of the time.
Benefits & conditions
In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the midpoint of the salary range for this role is $130,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
