Job description
D&G is seeking a Data Engineer to support the Defense Logistics Agency's Applied Research and Testing Emerging Technologies (ARTET) program. This role focuses on building and maintaining modern data pipelines, integrating enterprise datasets, and enabling analytics initiatives within a secure DoD environment.
This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving data integration challenges, improving data quality, and supporting analytics teams with clean, reliable, well-structured data.
What You Will Do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured datasets.
- Integrate data from enterprise systems including ERP platforms, operational databases, and legacy systems.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries and data models to support analytics and reporting needs.
- Implement data validation, cleansing, and monitoring processes to ensure data integrity.
- Support cloud or hybrid data environments (AWS, Azure, or on-prem infrastructure).
- Collaborate with analysts and developers to define data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Support AI/ML initiatives by preparing and structuring datasets for downstream model development.
- Contribute to documentation of data architecture, workflows, and security compliance practices.
- Troubleshoot performance and data issues and implement corrective solutions.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Query management?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience building and supporting data pipelines in enterprise environments.
- Strong SQL proficiency and experience with relational databases.
- Experience developing ETL/ELT processes and working with structured and unstructured data.
- Experience with Python or similar scripting language.
- Experience working in secure Federal or DoD environments.
Preferred
- Experience with cloud data services (AWS Redshift, RDS, EMR, Azure Data Services, etc.).
- Experience supporting AI/ML data preparation workflows.
- Familiarity with distributed processing frameworks (Spark, Kafka, etc.).
- Experience supporting DLA or logistics modernization programs.
Clearance and Eligibility
- Must be eligible to work in a DoD secure environment.
- Secret Clearance
- IAT Level II certification (DoD 8570/8140 compliant).
- U.S. citizenship required as defined under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
