Job description
You will take on a central role at the interface of data science, statistics, and animal research. You will have the opportunity to actively shape institutional data management and reproducible research practices and to further develop services along the research data lifecycle. You will work in close collaboration with interdisciplinary research teams across the institute and be part of a dynamic and supportive research environment.
What to expect:
- Leading the Data Service Center, a central unit at the FBN covering service on the full research data life cycle
- Statistical planning of animal experiments in cooperation with the various departments of the FBN, including experimental design, sample size determination, power analysis, and preparation of statistical sections for animal experiment approval applications
- Statistical modelling and analysis of animal experiments and biological data
- Supporting reproducible and transparent research data analysis and management, including the application of FAIR principles and the development of standardized workflows
- Development and implementation of data management strategies and services at institute level
- Active networking within nationwide statistical networks and communities in Germany, * an additional company pension (VBL)

Requirements
- Completed university degree with completed PhD in statistics or mathematics with a focus on applied statistics, or a comparable qualification
- Proven experience in statistical modelling and data analysis
- Strong programming skills in R and/or Python
- A strong interest in biological research topics and biological data, ideally with some initial practical experience
- Experience with database systems and data infrastructure development, for example SQL-based databases, data repositories, or research data management platforms desirable
- Experience in research data management, reproducible research practices, and the application of FAIR principles desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with researchers from various disciplines
- Leadership skills, ideally with experience in managing research teams or service facilities
- Proven record of successful scientific publications
- Experience in acquiring third-party funding
- Excellent English and German language skills, or willingness to acquire them in the near future
