Job description

We are seeking a Senior Snowflake Platform Architect with 11 to 14 years of advanced enterprise data infrastructure experience to join our team in a hybrid capacity out of Chicago. In this strategic and hands-on architecture role, you will be responsible for designing, securing, and optimizing our enterprise-wide Snowflake data platforms. Acting as the technical authority, you will translate complex financial business requirements into highly performant, secure, and cost-efficient data patterns, while establishing governance standards and mentoring engineering teams on elite development practices., ??Design and implement robust, enterprise-grade Snowflake data architectures that support scalable analytics and business intelligence across multiple banking domains.

??Author and engineer sophisticated Snowflake SQL solutions, optimizing query performance profiles to drastically reduce compute costs and maximize analytical throughput.

??Partner with product stakeholders to convert raw operational requirements into structural, well-modeled, and reusable data components within the Snowflake ecosystem.

??Refine ingestion data pipelines by tailoring custom partitioning strategies, search optimization services, and clustering keys for high-volume datasets.

??Establish secure, governance-compliant access infrastructure by designing Snowflake role hierarchies, network policies, and encrypted data sharing interfaces.

??Architect proactive monitoring models to track real-time query behavior, storage consumption growth, and compute workload patterns to mitigate capacity risks.

??Create and curate centralized technical playbooks, design standards, and reference implementations to accelerate agile data initiatives across engineering teams.

??Provide escalation-level technical support during incident management, conducting root-cause analysis on complex platform queries or cluster configuration anomalies.

Requirements

Primary (Must-Have):

??11 to 14+ years of data architecture and engineering experience with an enterprise focus on cloud data warehouse platforms

??Extensive hands-on expertise in advanced Snowflake SQL development, including complex transformations, multi-tier query performance tuning, and virtual warehouse optimization

??Proven track record designing scalable cloud-based analytical architectures that integrate Snowflake seamlessly with upstream and downstream data systems

??Strong command of Snowflake security architectures, including role-based access control (RBAC), row/column-level data masking policies, and secure data sharing patterns

??Deep structural knowledge of analytical data modeling techniques, specifically dimensional modeling (Star/Snowflake schemas) and wide-table approaches tailored for Snowflake storage

Secondary (Good to Have):

??Familiarity with modern data orchestration and pipeline tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Matillion) to automate multi-environment workflows

??Experience managing Snowflake consumption costs through precise resource monitors, warehouse sizing strategies, and storage lifecycle policies

??Broader data engineering awareness covering data quality frameworks, metadata management, and data platform observability

??Experience working within strict financial sector regulatory boundaries, compliance constraints, and corporate security guidelines
