Job description

Gridiron is looking for a highly skilled and motivated AWS Cloud Databricks Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In this role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of cloud-based data analytics solutions leveraging AWS and Databricks platforms. Your expertise will drive innovative data processing workflows, optimize cloud infrastructure, and ensure seamless integration with existing IT systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical national security initiatives through cutting-edge cloud and data engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Design, develop, and implement scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions using AWS services such as S3, EC2, Lambda, and Databricks on cloud infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into effective technical architectures utilizing service-oriented architecture principles.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure provisioning and automation using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, and Docker to ensure reliable deployment environments.
  • Optimize system performance through system hardening, virtualization techniques (VMware, OpenStack), and security best practices aligned with DHS/CBP standards.
  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices architectures, and web services to facilitate data sharing across platforms.
  • Implement DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Git, PowerShell, Bash scripting, and system monitoring tools for continuous integration and delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies by conducting system hardening, vulnerability assessments, and applying security patches across Linux, Windows, and cloud environments., * Extensive experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, Rackspace, and Citrix environments.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies including VMware, OpenStack, Docker containers, Kubernetes orchestration, and IaaS/PaaS architectures.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, Ruby on Rails, PowerShell, Bash scripting for software development and automation tasks.
  • Deep understanding of web services protocols including RESTful APIs, SOAP APIs; experience working with NoSQL databases like DynamoDB; familiarity with SQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle Database Server.
  • Expertise in designing secure cloud infrastructure with system hardening techniques; implementing VPNs; managing network security using Meraki or similar solutions.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure components including operating systems (Linux/Unix/Windows), application deployment methodologies (SDLC), microservices architecture, and DevOps pipelines.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools like Chef or Puppet; experience with T-SQL for database management; understanding of Internet of Things (IoT) integrations is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills combined with excellent communication abilities; ability to work within Agile development frameworks in fast-paced environments.
