Job description

Join a high-performing proprietary trading firm as it continues to expand its systematic trading platform and research infrastructure across global markets.

This is a front-office Quantitative Developer role with a strong focus on C++ engineering, system architecture, and research-to-production workflows. You'll work directly with Portfolio Managers, traders, and the Head of Research, owning critical parts of the platform that support how ideas are tested, deployed, and scaled in live trading environments.

This is an ideal opportunity for engineers who want to move beyond siloed development and take true ownership of systems that directly impact trading performance.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build core components of a systematic trading platform, spanning research, backtesting, and production
  • Develop and enhance backtesting frameworks, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into live trading systems
  • Collaborate closely with PMs and traders to translate strategies into robust, scalable infrastructure
  • Contribute to system architecture and design decisions, with a focus on performance and reliability
  • Work with market data and trading workflows, supporting how strategies are developed and evaluated
  • Own projects end-to-end, from initial concept through deployment and iteration, * Reports directly to the Head of Research with close interaction across the trading desk
  • High-autonomy environment - engineers are expected to own and drive their work
  • Chicago-based team within a lean, collaborative global firm (~50 employees)
  • Particularly well-suited for candidates seeking more front-office exposure and technical ownership
  • Candidates recently impacted by layoffs, restructuring, or who are between roles are strongly encouraged to apply

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Strong C++ experience (core requirement)
  • Proficiency in Python
  • ~205 years of experience in trading, finance, or high-performance systems environments
  • Understanding of financial markets and trading concepts (market data, order flow, etc.)
  • Experience working with performance-sensitive or distributed systems
