Job description

You will work closely with another technician. Shared responsibilities will particularly involve the group's internal IT infrastructure and supporting experimental studies. At the same time, you will set your own focus areas, especially in software, and complement the team's existing competencies in areas such as hardware and laboratory work., * Maintenance of the Neuroinformatics Research Group's software toolboxes: version control, release management, code quality, maintenance, bug fixing, testing, quality assurance, documentation, support, and training

  • Procurement and replacement of hardware and software
  • Installation and maintenance of hardware and software, especially PC workstations, printers, and other IT components
  • First-level support
  • Support for experimental studies
  • Maintenance of the website
  • Network administration
  • Tasks within the shared IT infrastructure of the Faculty of Computer Science, such as managing Linux servers (e.g., file servers or CI/CD servers) and the internal video conferencing infrastructure

Requirements

  • A completed degree or training program in computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Professional experience in system administration, support, development, or management
  • Good written and spoken German and English skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Linux, Windows, and macOS
  • Excellent programming skills, e.g., in Python, Matlab, C/C++, or Java
  • Experience with Git-based repository management, particularly repository maintenance, branch organization, integration of contributions, issue management, and collaborative workflows
  • A structured, goal-oriented, and independent working style
  • A team player, ideally with experience working with research groups
  • Good knowledge of web programming

About the company

We are looking for a/an, The Neuroinformatics Research Group is a small, international, and interdisciplinary team within the Faculty of Computer Science. We develop AI methods to understand the relationships between brain activity, behavior, and consciousness, and to use these insights to derive new therapeutic approaches for neurological disorders.
