The Sr. Mgr, R&D Applications & Master Data provides strategic and operational leadership across multiple R&D portfolios, ensuring the effective planning, execution, and delivery of research and development programs. This role plays a critical part in enabling innovation by building scalable, compliant, and efficient R&D operations that support product development from concept through commercialization. The position offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-level R&D strategy while leading high-impact teams in a dynamic, regulated environment., * Lead and oversee R&D operational activities across multiple product families, ensuring alignment with business priorities, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish andoptimizeR&D operational processes, governance models, and standard operating procedures to improve efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
- Partner cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to enabletimelyand effective product development execution.
- Manage budgets, resource planning, and capacity forecasting to support short- and long-term R&D initiatives.
- Lead, coach, and develop managers and senior individual contributors, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and talent development.
- Drive operational risk identification and mitigation, ensuring adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), design controls, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Monitor operational performance through metrics and dashboards, using data-driven insights to guide decision-making and improvements.
- Serve as a key R&D operations representative in governance forums, leadership reviews, and strategic planning discussions., Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.
Requirements
- Required:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, ora relatedtechnical discipline.
- Preferred:Master's degree or MBA.
Experience and Skills
Required:
- Typically requires 6-8years of progressive experiencein R&D, engineering, or technical operations, withdemonstratedleadership responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of R&D operational processes, quality systems, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex portfolios, budgets, and resource plans.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
- Experience supporting multiple product families or platforms simultaneously.
- Background in orthopedic or medical device product development.
- Experience driving operational excellence, process transformation, or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with global R&D operating models and matrixed organizations.
- Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing managers within a regulated environment (medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences preferred).
