While this is a remote-first role, occasional travel will be required to our head office in Nottingham and to other sites across the UK for on-site support and collaboration.
What you'll do as an Infrastructure and Security Engineer
- Implement, configure, and support core IT infrastructure including Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, Intune, Office 365, and related networking and storage technologies.
- Collaborate with managed service providers (MSPs) and vendors to maintain high service levels and ensure systems meet agreed performance and security standards.
- Manage escalations from the Service Desk, providing advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Support the planning and delivery of infrastructure and security projects, ensuring alignment with business requirements, budgets, and timelines.
- Proactively monitor system performance, capacity, and security posture; identify and implement improvements.
- Maintain and update infrastructure documentation, standards, and operating procedures.
- Participate in security and risk management activities, including maintaining risk registers, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Work with stakeholders across IT and the business to ensure successful service transitions into BAU support.
- Support supplier selection and tender processes where required.
- Provide out-of-hours support on a rota basis for critical system incidents.
- Travel for on-site hardware support as required.
Requirements
- Experience in a hands-on IT infrastructure role
- Proven experience supporting cloud and hybrid environments (Azure, O365)
- Demonstrated experience in managing and improving infrastructure performance and security
- Experience working with third-party suppliers and MSPs
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2019+, Azure AD, Intune, and Office 365
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing)
- Experience with backup and recovery solutions
- Familiar with identity and access management, patching, and monitoring
- Analytical and methodical approach to problem solving
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Able to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Continuous learner with a proactive mindset toward technology and security
- Full UK drivers license
