Job description
Client: DoE (Department of Energy) Position Overview: The Network Administrator 3 is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science's network infrastructure. This role involves working with cutting-edge technologies in a hybrid work environment, ensuring the reliability and security of the network that supports the DOE's critical scientific missions. The position reports directly to the IT Infrastructure Operations Manager. Key Responsibilities:
- Network Management: Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise-level network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Security: Implement and manage security protocols, including firewall policies, VPNs, and IDS/IPS systems.
- Remote and On-site Support: Provide both remote and on-site support, including racking and un-racking network equipment, and manage network infrastructure at remote office sites when necessary.
- Monitoring and Optimization: Utilize network management tools like SolarWinds for performance tuning, alerting, and ensuring high availability.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure network alignment with broader IT and business objectives.
Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience.

Certifications: o Cisco CCNA or CCNP in Routing and Switching is required. o Security+ CE Technical Skills: * Proficiency in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, and other network protocols.

Hands-on experience with Cisco networking, Palo Alto firewalls, and VMware.

Strong skills in VPN technologies, network security, and wireless networking.

Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco DNA Center, and Cisco SD-WAN technologies.

Scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell) for automation of network tasks.
