Job description
The FDIC Treasury Integrated Platform (TIP) is a cloud-native modernization of legacy financial reporting systems, delivering enterprise analytics and reporting through Power BI embedded within an Angular and Spring Boot application. We are seeking a hands-on Power BI Embedded Specialist/Architect to own the Power BI ecosystem end-to-end. This includes tenant setup, semantic modeling, Row-Level Security (RLS), embedded analytics integration, reporting delivery, and governance.
This is not a report-only role or a pure architecture role-it requires deep technical execution across Power BI Service, Embedded, and enterprise data modeling., Power BI Platform & Embedded Setup Configure Power BI tenant, capacity (Premium / Embedded), workspaces, and deployment pipelines (Dev/Test/UAT/Prod)
- Set up Microsoft Entra ID service principals and App-Owns-Data embedding
- Define and implement Power BI Embedded architecture and integration with Spring Boot and Angular
- Configure secure connectivity to Azure PostgreSQL (Flexible Server)
Semantic Modeling & Data Layer
- Build certified Power BI semantic models (DAX, Power Query, dimensional design)
- Implement RLS (including dynamic RLS for embedded scenarios)
- Configure Import, DirectQuery, and Composite models
- Implement incremental refresh and reusable KPI measures
Reporting & Analytics
- Develop interactive dashboards, KPIs, and canned reports
- Build paginated reports for export-heavy requirements
- Support self-service analytics using governed datasets
- Ensure Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA compliance
Embedded Integration
- Implement Power BI REST APIs (including GenerateToken for embedding)
- Define embed configurations and security model for App-Owns-Data
- Support Angular SDK integration and Spring Boot token services
- Troubleshoot embedding, RLS, refresh, and capacity issues
Governance & Operations
- Define report lifecycle (Dev Prod via deployment pipelines)
- Configure subscriptions, scheduling, and distribution
- Enable Power BI audit logging and integrate with Splunk
- Support UAT, production rollout, and operational readiness
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience or 9 years with a HS Diploma/equivalent
- 5+ years Power BI (Service, Desktop, Embedded)
- Proven experience with App-Owns-Data Power BI Embedded
- Expert-level DAX and strong Power Query (M)
- Strong RLS implementation experience (dynamic + embedded scenarios)
- Power BI REST API experience (embedding, admin, automation)
- Experience with Azure PostgreSQL connectivity
- Workspace, dataset, and deployment pipeline administration
- Experience delivering enterprise reporting solutions end-to-end
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance
- Must be able to obtain the Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Fundamentals (PL-900) certification within 30 calendar days of onboarding
Preferred Skills
- Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300) / Power Platform Solution Architect (PL-600) / Azure Enterprise Data Analyst (DP-500) / Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate DP-600 certification
- Federal or financial services experience (FDIC/Treasury a plus)
- GCC or GCC High Power BI experience
- Paginated Reports (Power BI Report Builder)
- Power Automate for reporting workflows
- Splunk integration for audit/telemetry
- Familiarity with Angular / Spring Boot (integration-level understanding)
