Job description

DecisionPoint seeks a Intermediate System Administrator to provide systems administration, operations, maintenance, and technical support for Global Information Technology Support Services supporting the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) Deputy Chief of Staff for Information Management (G6). This position supports the administration, sustainment, security, and troubleshooting of enterprise systems across classified and unclassified DoD environments., The System Administrator - Intermediate will support Windows server environments, Active Directory, SCCM, virtualization, storage, backup and recovery, desktop and server troubleshooting, STIG implementation, vulnerability remediation, and system documentation. The role requires hands-on experience supporting secure DoD IT environments and coordinating with technical teams, service providers, cybersecurity personnel, and Government stakeholders to maintain system availability, performance, and compliance., The Intermediate System Administrator will:

  • Install, configure, maintain , patch, monitor, troubleshoot, and support Army-approved server operating systems, Windows services, enterprise applications, and related infrastructure.

  • Support Active Directory and core enterprise services, including user and computer accounts, security groups, permissions, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, file shares, certificate services, and related account/service request processes.

  • Configure, maintain , and troubleshoot virtual, storage, and backup environments, including virtual servers, hosts, clusters, VDI components, NAS/SAN resources, file permissions, replication, recovery, disaster recovery, and continuity support.

  • Support SCCM and endpoint administration activities, including software packaging, imaging, operating system deployment, patch deployment, third-party software deployment, client health monitoring, inventory, and reporting.

  • Support administration and troubleshooting of desktops, laptops, zero clients, specialized software, peripherals, and other endpoint systems as required .

  • Apply, document, and remediate STIG requirements; support vulnerability management, IAVA-related activities, scan result review, patching, security updates, POA&Ms, and compliance documentation.

  • Provide technical artifacts and documentation supporting ATO, C&A, cybersecurity audits, SOPs, troubleshooting guides, system configurations, architecture diagrams, and accreditation packages.

  • Monitor and resolve system administration trouble tickets, coordinate with service providers and technical teams to resolve issues, and support contingency, emergency, exercise, surge, and after-hours requirements.

  • Ensure assigned activities comply with applicable DoD, Army, USTRANSCOM, SDDC, information assurance, cybersecurity, and operational requirements.

Requirements

Clearance Requirement:

  • Must hold an active Secret clearance.

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain required Common Access Card (CAC), facility access, system access, and Government network access.

Education:

  • High School Diploma (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology , Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting systems administration, server administration, infrastructure operations, or enterprise IT support within DoD or federal environments.

  • Experience administering Windows server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, permissions, file shares, and enterprise services.

  • Experience supporting SCCM administration, software deployment, patch management, operating system deployment, imaging, and compliance reporting.

  • Experience supporting virtualized environments, including virtual servers, workstations, hosts, clusters, datastores, resource pools, or virtual desktop infrastructure.

  • Experience supporting storage administration, backup and recovery, data replication, disaster recovery, and file storage services.

  • Experience implementing DISA STIG requirements, supporting vulnerability remediation, and maintaining compliance documentation.

  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, endpoint, server, application, and connectivity issues in secure enterprise environments.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, file services, certificate services, and enterprise account administration.

  • Familiarity with SCCM, software packaging, patch deployment, operating system deployment, client monitoring, and software inventory reporting.

  • Knowledge of virtualization platforms, virtual server administration, VDI concepts, host management, datastores, clusters, and resource pools.

  • Understanding of storage administration, NAS/SAN concepts, NTFS permissions, CIFS shares, iSCSI LUNs, NFS storage, backup, recovery, and data replication.

  • Knowledge of DISA STIGs, vulnerability management, patch management, system hardening, POA&M support, and compliance documentation.

  • Familiarity with DoD information assurance requirements, ATO support, cybersecurity documentation, and secure system administration practices.

  • Ability to use scripting or automation tools, such as PowerShell, batch scripts, or comparable approved scripting languages, to support routine administration tasks.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Must hold applicable DoD 8140 / IAT Level II certification as required for the position.

  • Must meet applicable PWS IA baseline and computing environment certification requirements.

  • Security+ CE, CySA +, Microsoft, VMware, Windows Server, SCCM, or other relevant technical certification preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across server, desktop, virtualization, storage, and enterprise service environments.

  • Ability to maintain secure, reliable, and compliant systems in mission-focused DoD environments.

  • Strong attention to detail when applying STIGs, documenting configurations, reviewing logs, and supporting audit requirements.

  • Ability to coordinate effectively with cybersecurity teams, network administrators, service providers, Government stakeholders, and technical leads.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting issues, reporting status, and supporting operational requirements.

  • Commitment to system reliability, cybersecurity compliance, customer support, and mission continuity.
