Job description
- Translate product problems into designed cross-component solutions; contribute to the design and development of scalable, secure, and maintainable software and author design documents and technical specifications for key projects.
- Participate in architectural discussions to drive system-level decisions and innovative solutions.
- Break down work into meaningful milestones and provisioning estimations; collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to deliver features and improvements.
- Develop and maintain fullstack applications using Java/Spring Boot on the backend and React on the frontend.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following coding standards; conduct and participate in code reviews to ensure quality and consistency.
- Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and system issues.
Requirements
Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's in CS or related field with extensive experience in designing and developing highly scalable web applications.
- Proven experience building scalable backend systems with Java/Spring Boot and RESTful APIs in microservices architectures.
- Experience with Kotlin and AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) is a strong plus.
- Proficiency with relational and/or NoSQL databases and experience with modern frontend frameworks like React.js.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Proficiency in writing and maintaining unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

About the team and the role:
We are in the process of expanding our engineering hub in Germany. Several new engineering positions are being opened within Shipping Domain in our Dreilinden office located in the greater Berlin area. We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer who will be part of the Global Shipping team and who can help us build exciting products at eBay.

We are a product-oriented team, we move fast, and stay curious.
You will be working on new experiences for millions of customers. You will lead the development of modern web applications (Spring Boot / JavaScript) by developing system designs, helping define the technical roadmap, guiding the team on all technical aspects, and implementing code. You will report to a Sr. Manager of engineering, as well as work closely with the wider engineering team of the new engineering hub.
