Purpose Statement
The job of Data Integration Specialist is done for the purpose/s of works with department staff to analyze, plan and integrate data elements from various systems to meet user requests and automate business processes. Provides leadership for data-related projects, such as working with vendors for data migration/integration of third-party software. Supports district staff in usage of centralized data systems, including Skyward student information system. Develops standards, processes, and interfaces to move data seamlessly between disparate systems through a variety of techniques (scripting, open database
connectivity, etc.).
Essential Functions:
- Collaborates with a variety of internal and external parties for the purpose of providing and/or receiving information and ensuring project success;
- Consults with internal customers and outside vendors on projection and system upgrades for the purpose of providing district-wide technology data support;
- Develops reliable processes for data interchange for the purpose of providing users with information customized to their specific needs;
- Maintains databases (e.g. data dictionary of data elements, etc.) for the purpose of delivering service in compliance with established guidelines;
- Maintains a variety of files, documents and/or records (e.g. reports, logs, databases, agreements, licenses, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written materials, and complying with mandated requirements;
- Maintains instructional software applications for the purpose of providing up-to-date resources for classroom use;
- Oversees assigned projects for the purpose of delivering services and compliance with established guidelines and mandated requirements;
- Participates in meetings and/or trainings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions;
- Prepares documentation (e.g. processes, workflows, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information;
- Provides limited end-user support for district systems for the purpose of providing district-wide customer services.

Requirements
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment using pertinent software applications including web page editing programs such as Dreamweaver and web development using server-side scripting in PHP and MySQL; preparing and maintaining accurate records; planning and managing projects; strong writing ability; and instructional design skills.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: methods, procedures, materials and techniques used in the installation and maintenance of computer and computer systems including both hardware and software; create multimedia and digital video presentations and promotions; policies, regulation, and guidelines as they relate to use of software (specifically, copyright laws and the use of licensed equipment and materials); educational and classroom management software.
ABILITY is required to schedule a significant number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization's services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience: Job related experience within a specialized field is required in College-level coursework in information systems, computer science or related field; Three years' experience with SQL-based databases; Two years' experience with scripting/programing languages (ie. C#, PHP); Familiarity with K-12 business processes (and relevant software).
Education (Preferred): Bachelor's of Science degree in computer/technology field with emphasis on data systems or programming
Education (Minimum): Community college and/or vocational school degree with study in job-related area.
