Job description
This position performs full-stack networking responsibilities, including:
- Cabling and hardware installation to advanced network engineering and architecture;
- Administering advanced firewalls, including rule engineering and troubleshooting;
- Applying and maintaining network security controls in accordance with FGCC and State of Florida standards;
- Conducting lifecycle planning and performance optimization;
- Coordinating Zero-Trust and security compliance measures;
- Coordinating with vendors, service providers, and interagency personnel for network-related projects and support;
- Creating training materials and conducting training regarding networking-related applications and tasks;
- Deploying and maintaining structured cabling and physical network infrastructure;
- Designing and maintaining network topology documentation;
- Developing operational standards and best practices;
- Engineering routing, switching, wireless, and VPN solutions;
- Implementing hybrid-cloud and SDN/SD-WAN network solutions;
- Leading network upgrades and modernization projects;
- Monitoring network performance using diagnostics tools;
- Participating in cybersecurity response activities;
- Supporting and maintaining the agency's Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) network connection and ensuring compliance;
- Supporting core services such as DHCP, DNS, VLANs, VoIP, and wireless;
- Testing and maintaining disaster recovery strategies;
- Working with vendors and partners on engineering tasks; and
- Performing special projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Wireless network design?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Knowledge of cloud networking.
- Knowledge of enterprise routing protocols.
- Knowledge of network security architecture.
- Knowledge of project management and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Knowledge of secure network design principles.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to architect secure network designs.
- Ability to automate networking using scripting tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
- Ability to complete network implementation, including remote deployments.
- Ability to coordinate multi-team technical projects.
- Ability to design hybrid-cloud and SD-WAN solutions.
- Ability to diagnose complex routing, switching, and firewall issues.
- Ability to document technical procedures.

- Ability to implement network theory concepts.

- Ability to manage, lead, direct, coordinate, and supervise work, including contractors and vendors.
- Ability to perform hands-on physical installation., * Four (4) years of professional network engineering experience in a government or enterprise environment; OR a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Experience with cabling and physical equipment installation.
- Experience with cloud services, firewalls, routers, switches, wireless, SDN/SD-WAN.
- Experience with multi-site network environments.
- Experience with standards such as BICSI, ISO 27001, ISO 20000, ISO 9001 and NIST SP Frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CCNA, CCNP, Network+, Security+, FCP or higher.
- Experience in government, regulatory, or law enforcement network environments.
