Job description

If Not a Standard Work Schedule: Standard Shift M-F 8-5 Primarily. Will require other hours as needed. May be required to travel to other DACC campuses and centers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Primary job duties of the technician include:

  1. Assisting full- and part-time faculty in preparing and delivering laboratory-based instruction;
  2. Setting up lab spaces with the necessary tools, materials, and equipment; ensuring they are in optimal condition for student use;
  3. Performing routine maintenance or minor repairs as needed;
  4. Keeping equipment and lab area functional and safe;
  5. Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment;
  6. Serving as a resource for students;
  7. Offering guidance on proper equipment use and safety protocols during lab sessions;
  8. Advising and supporting students to select course schedules that align with their academic goals and accelerate program completion; and
  9. Maintaining student advising systems that track individualized academic plans for CIT department students.

Collaborating closely with faculty, the technician will:

  1. Reinforce classroom concepts through hands-on demonstrations;
  2. help students connect theoretical knowledge to practical application;
  3. Maintain the proper level of supplies; and properly use a wide range of tools and machinery. The technician will support the laboratories, equipment, and classes primarily taught at the DACC's East Mesa Campus and also taught at the other campuses and centers.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Customer communication?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, Required Education and Experience: High School diploma or higher degree.

Equivalent Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications: 1-2 years experience working with Linux and/or Windows computer systems in a networked environment. Understanding of computer components (CPU, RAM, motherboard, SSD/HDD, power supply, GPU, etc.) and how to assemble/disassemble a PC.

Basic understanding of wired/wireless networks, IP addressing, routers, Wi-Fi setup, and common connectivity issues. Reliability, willingness to learn, attention to detail) are often just as important as technical skills at the entry level.

Clear verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users in simple terms and providing good customer service.

The ability to diagnose hardware/software issues logically, follow troubleshooting methodologies, and resolve common user problems efficiently.

Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Physical Effort: No or very limited physical effort required.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.
