Job description
CGI Federal is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Backend Developer to join our innovative team. As a Backend Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable backend systems. You will work closely with front end developers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
Requirements
Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Golang, Python, Java, and other technologies.
Strong understanding of modern application architecture and cloud native application development.
Experience with Google cloud or any other cloud native application development.
Experience building backend APIs with REST, SOAP, and developing microservices.
Good understanding of event driven architecture and design.
Working experience with large XML, WSDL, JSON data models and large data transformations.
Knowledge of big-data processing, developing scalable applications.
Strong working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases like Postgres, Mongo DB, and Google Firestore
Implement data validation, integrity constraints, and performance optimization techniques.
Collaborate with front-end developers and other team members to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
Good understanding of caching strategies and working with cache implementations.
Expertise in writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
Strong understanding of authentication and authorization strategies with oAuth2.
Strong understanding of developing unit and integration tests.
Proven track record to learn new technologies and work within strict timelines.
Good written and oral communication skills with a knack for working under tight deadlines.
Experience working with large teams and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
Experience creating technical design documentation, collaborating with other Agile teams.
Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in backend development.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Programming Languages:
· Proficiency in Golang, knowledge of GIN, GORM, and other related frameworks.
· Proficiency in Python, including knowledge of frameworks like Django or Flask.
· Experience with Java, Spring Boot, SOAP, and WSDL is a plus.
SQL Databases:
· Expertise in relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
· Proficiency in database schema design, normalization, and optimization.
· Advanced SQL query writing and performance tuning.
NoSQL Databases:
· Extensive experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Google Firestore, Cassandra, Couchbase, or Redis.
· Ability to design and manage schemas for NoSQL databases and optimize queries for performance.
APIs and Backend Development:
· Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
· Experience with WSDL and SOAP-based Web services is a plus.
· Experience with GraphQL APIs is a plus.
· Knowledge of designing and deploying microservices architectures.
· Knowledge of designing and developing with event driven architecture.
Database Management:
· Proficiency in data modeling and understanding of CAP theorem and eventual consistency.
· Implementing data validation and integrity constraints.
Performance Optimization:
· Skills in optimizing backend services for performance and scalability.
· Experience with caching strategies and tools (e.g., Redis, Memcached).
· Security:
· Knowledge of security practices for backend development (e.g., authentication, authorization, encryption).
· Understanding of common security vulnerabilities and how to mitigate them., * Google Cloud Platform

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $89,600.00 - $176,300.00.
