Job description

Aroostook Technologies Inc. (ATI) is seeking a motivated and experienced Network Administrator to manage, maintain, and expand our wireless broadband network and supporting technology infrastructure. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of ATI's fixed wireless internet network (WISP), customer VoIP phone deployments, core routing and switching infrastructure, and associated IT systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong networking skills, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. This position offers the opportunity to work with a wide variety of technologies including wireless broadband, networking, VoIP phone systems, security systems, access control, and business IT solutions.

Primary ResponsibilitiesWireless Broadband Network Operations

  • Manage and maintain ATI's fixed wireless broadband network infrastructure.
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot wireless backhaul and customer access networks.
  • Perform capacity planning and network optimization to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Monitor network health, uptime, latency, and throughput.
  • Diagnose and resolve RF interference, signal quality, and connectivity issues.
  • Assist with tower, rooftop, and customer premise equipment deployments.
  • Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and inventory records.

Network Administration

  • Configure and support routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and related network infrastructure.
  • Administer IP addressing, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, and routing protocols.
  • Monitor network security and implement best practices.
  • Perform firmware and software updates on network equipment.
  • Monitor backups, system performance, and network alerts.

VoIP Phone System Support

  • Configure and deploy business VoIP phone systems for ATI customers.
  • Program VoIP phones, auto attendants, hunt groups, voicemail, and basic call routing features.
  • Assist customers with phone moves, adds, changes, and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with hosted voice service providers to resolve service issues.
  • Maintain customer phone system documentation.
  • Provide customer training on phone system operation and features.

Systems & Technical Support

  • Support Windows servers, workstations, and cloud-based services.
  • Support wireless networks, security cameras, access control systems, and related technologies.
  • Provide advanced technical support to ATI staff and customers.
  • Assist with new technology deployments and infrastructure upgrades.

Project Implementation

  • Assist in the design and deployment of new wireless broadband infrastructure.
  • Participate in network upgrades and expansion projects.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements.
  • Support grant-funded broadband projects and compliance requirements as needed., * 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime and after-hours support as needed

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in VPN management?, * Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking principles.

  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting:
  • Routing and switching
  • VLANs
  • VPNs
  • DHCP and DNS
  • Firewall platforms
  • Ability to read and interpret network diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years of network administration experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of hands-on experience supporting a Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP), fixed wireless broadband network, telecommunications provider, or similar environment.
  • Experience configuring and supporting business VoIP phone systems.
  • Experience with wireless broadband technologies including Point-to-Point (PtP) and Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) systems.
  • Experience with equipment and platforms such as:
  • Ubiquiti
  • Cambium
  • MikroTik
  • Cisco
  • Motorola
  • Mimosa
  • Grandstream
  • Yealink
  • Experience with fiber transport networks.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management systems.
  • Familiarity with Sonar, UISP, or similar ISP management platforms.
  • Knowledge of RF propagation, link budgeting, and spectrum analysis.
  • Industry certifications such as:
  • CompTIA Network+
  • CWNA
  • CCNA
  • MikroTik MTCNA
  • Cambium certifications

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel throughout northern Maine as required., * Network Administration (Preferred)

License/Certification
