Job description

Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Supervisor I will act as supervisor and team lead over the help desk team of IT Associates who are charged with supporting the CCC's IT user base and their related technologies. This includes mobile devices (iPhones and iPads), Microsoft Windows laptops/PCs, software and management platforms, as well as user account and group management in Active Directory/Intra. The incumbent will also carry out tasks in the Client Services and Information Security Engineering domains, and other domains as needed., * You may be occasionally required to work from the CCC Sacramento Center location (570 Bercut Drive, Sacramento, CA) based on business need (printing, mailing, meetings, etc.).

  • Once HQ renovations are complete, you will be notified and the in-office reporting location will revert to HQ (anticipated return is July or later) and this position will revert to a "Hybrid" schedule of up to three days of telework per week, with a minimum of two days of in-office work.
  • Effective July 1, 2026, there is a Statewide mandate that requires a work schedule of four days of in-office work per week for all "Hybrid" eligible positions.

Requirements

Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (please attach your letter, if available). SROA and Surplus candidates are given priority; therefore, individuals with other eligibility may be considered in the event no SROA or Surplus candidates apply. Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s)., In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Experience leading a technical team with diverse personalities and technical ability
  • Experience leading project teams to complete tasks under tight deadlines
  • Experience monitoring IT trouble tickets, including meeting SLAs, and escalations as necessary
  • Experience as lead of IT device management platforms (i.e. Microsoft Intune, Meraki MDM, etc)
  • Experience supporting modern Windows Operating Systems - Windows 11
  • Experience administering Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and Active Directory/Entra
  • Experience supporting a geographically dispersed business environment including remote office locations and teleworking
  • Ability to occasionally travel to remote locations to support customers
  • Ability and desire to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to work collaboratively to resolve technical issues
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and manage changing priorities
  • Ability to find creative solutions to technical and non-technical challenges

  1. List Eligibility - Successfully complete the civil service exam for Information Technology Supervisor 1 or Information Technology Supervisor 2. Please refer to the exam bulletin for the frequency of administration of this exam.
  2. Transfer Eligibility - Must have current employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above).
  3. Reinstatement Eligibility - Previously obtained permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above.
  4. Training & Development (T&D) Assignment - State employees in a permanent appointment, and no longer on probation, may be considered for a T&D assignment.
