Job description
to promote their own academic qualifications within the meaning of § 2 (1) of the German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz) as soon as possible.
The Nanotechnology Research Group conducts interdisciplinary research in the field of fluidic self-assembly of microscopic components. Fluidic self-assembly is the surface-tension-controlled assembly of microscopic chips, including LEDs and transistors, onto rigid and flexible printed circuit boards. To achieve self-assembly, receptors made of liquid solder are fabricated on various substrates and placed in an aqueous environment. Surface chemistry and surface tension play a crucial role in this process. Furthermore, specialized assembly systems are required for the transport and observation of the chips during the process. For our experimental research projects, we are seeking dedicated scientists to join us as soon as possible to enable the heterogeneous integration of various components and assemblies.
The goal is to secure a postdoctoral position following the completion of the doctoral program.
Your tasks
The position includes the following responsibilities:
- Design, construction, and test run of new (previously non-existent) physical experimental setups (custom build) that enable the fabrication of novel heterogeneous functional structures and systems.
- Exploration of new fluidic or other physical assembly methods
- Assistance with project proposals/documentation and final reports.
- Analysis and publication of scientific results in international journals.
Requirements
Do you have a Master's degree?, A completed degree (M.Sc., M.Eng., Dipl.-Ing., or equivalent) in electrical engineering, material science, micro/nanotechnology, or a related field is required.
Following competences are desirable:
- Experience with inorganic and organic chemistry, surface modification, assembly and joining technology, packaging/backend technology, micro/nanotechnology, lithography, materials analysis, SEM, and plasma processes. Please highlight these qualifications in your application.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills (Level B2) round up your profile.
Benefits & conditions
- attractive remuneration according to collective agreement (as per TV-L) incl. granting of a special annual payment
- vacation entitlement of 30 days in the calendar year and additional days off on 24 / 31 December
- family-friendly, flexible working time model
- VBL - pension scheme in the public sector
- wide range of individual training opportunities
- extensive health and sports programs
- respectful working environment at a renowned university
