Job description

The main role of the Red Hat Telco Cloud Architect is to passionately drive the adoption of Red Hat's solution in our key telco service provider customers, network equipment providers, and key system integrator partners. Through a series of interactions both in-person and remote the Telco Cloud Architect will win the trust and confidence of their engineering, development and operations teams by aligning their requirements and use cases with the functional capabilities of the solution.

The Telco Cloud Architect will have thorough working knowledge and hands-on experience with OpenShift and OpenStack based cloud infrastructures to support applications providing virtualized/containerized network functions (VNF/CNF) to the telco industry. Successful candidates will bring a wealth of industry experience and domain expertise to play a leading role in the design and project delivery of these business critical solutions, and therefore will need a strong working knowledge of Agile project methodologies, as well as DevOps models and technologies.

The Red Hat Telco Cloud Architect will also play a critical role in bringing together cross-functional teams from Red Hat's product business units, product engineering, support, consulting, and sales to meet the needs of these demanding customers.

What you will do:

  • Own the architecture, design, and successful delivery of large-scale telco cloud platforms built on OpenShift and automation frameworks
  • Winning the confidence of our prospective customers through the successful delivery of discovery, analysis and design workshops that shape and influence the customer's use cases and architecture design decisions to align with the Red Hat solution.
  • Lead consulting teams through successful customer pilot and production deployments.
  • The design, creation and delivery of content that enables the broader Red Hat organization to sell (pre-sales), service (consulting) and support (CEE) our Telco solutions at scale.
  • Work closely with product business units, product engineering, consulting, support, and sales to ensure a world-class customer experience with Red Hat's products.
  • Contribute to the development of repeatable methodologies and tools designed to scale Red Hat's services capabilities, promote repeatable customer engagements, and lower delivery risk.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership in the Telco community by producing world-class white papers, webinars, etc. and speaking at industry leading conferences.

This role operates at the intersection of pre-sales, architecture, and delivery - shaping customer strategy while ensuring real-world implementation success in complex, high-stakes environments.

You will deal with:

  • Multi-cluster telco platforms (hub/spoke, edge)
  • CNF/VNF onboarding challenges
  • Automation (ZTP, GitOps, Day 2 ops)
  • Customers with incomplete processes and unclear ownership
  • Integration with legacy OSS/BSS and network systems
  • Pre-sales engagements where requirements are evolving and realistic expectations must be shaped under time pressure

In this context, you will design and deliver:

  • Distributed OpenShift-based platforms across core and edge
  • CNF/VNF onboarding and lifecycle management workflows
  • Automated deployment and operations pipelines (ZTP, GitOps, Ansible)
  • End-to-end integration with customer network and IT systems
  • Pre-sales deliverables including architecture-driven Statements of Work (SoW), effort estimations, and service scoping aligned with real delivery constraints

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Telecommunications or other network-related Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent industry certification.
  • Deep knowledge of modern telco networks and protocols and their implementation in software based solutions
  • Deep knowledge and experience designing and delivering cloud and automation technology for telco network platforms via distributed cross-functional teams.
  • Broad and deep technical experience and hands-on skills with open source cloud and virtualization technologies including OpenShift, OpenStack, Software Defined Storage and Ansible Automation, all in a telco network environment.
  • Strong background in consultative customer engagements with either a major software vendor, systems integrator, a network equipment provider, or a telco services provider.
  • Flexible, creative, solution sales mentality and the ability to work in a complex innovative environment with diverse cross functional teams and multiple products and services
  • The ability to self-study and quickly learn and put into practice new technologies
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills in English, including extensive experience presenting to C-level executives at large firms.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to client locations throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa
