Job description
Position Summary: Duquesne Light is seeking a motivated Infrastructure Engineer II to support enterprise Linux, storage, and virtualization platforms.
This role focuses on day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, incident response, and routine system maintenance (including patching) to ensure secure, stable, and reliable infrastructure supporting both corporate and mission-critical utility systems.
This position offers the opportunity to develop deeper technical expertise and grow into more advanced infrastructure engineering responsibilities over time., Infrastructure Support & Incident Response

Provide operational support for Linux, storage, and virtualization environments

Respond to alerts and incidents, restoring service within defined SLAs
-
Troubleshoot issues across compute, storage, and virtualization layers
-
Perform incident triage, escalation, and assist with root cause analysis
Linux Systems Administration
-
Support RHEL and Oracle Linux (OEL) environments
-
Perform routine administration including:
-
System patching and updates
-
Provisioning and configuration
-
Performance monitoring
-
Utilize Red Hat Satellite and Oracle Linux Automation Manager (OLAM)
Storage & Data Protection

Support storage platforms:

Pure Storage
-
Dell EMC Isilon
-
Assist with backup and recovery tools:
-
Avamar, Rubrik, Acronis

Perform backup validation and support restore operations
Virtualization
-
Support VMware vSphere and Oracle Linux KVM

Assist with VM provisioning, configuration, and performance monitoring
Automation & Tools

Utilize and maintain automation using:

Ansible
-
Basic scripting (Bash/Python)

Support existing automation and configuration management processes
Application Platform Support

Support infrastructure for enterprise systems such as:

Oracle Utility Suite
-
IBM Maximo
-
Outage Management System (OMS)
-
Transmission & Distribution SCADA
-
Troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues impacting application performance
Monitoring & Maintenance
-
Monitor system health and respond to alerts
-
Perform routine maintenance activities, including patching and updates
-
Follow established change management and operational procedures
Security & Identity
-
Support Linux patching, hardening, and compliance activities
-
Assist with Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) and access controls
On-Call Support
-
Participate in on-call rotation
-
Support after-hours incidents and scheduled maintenance as needed
Additional Responsibilities:

Storm role duties as assigned, Primary focus is on daily deliverables, outputs and reporting. Typically, accountable for managing one's own time and workflow. Responsible for using prescribed guidelines to analyze situations and solve problems. Work is typically of moderate complexity requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Continues to build knowledge base and develop capabilities by partnering with more experienced staff as needed
Decision Impact
Problems and issues faced are vague but may be recognizable based on past experience. Accountable for some direct level of reasoning and decision making in straightforward situations based on precedents.
Hybrid Work
Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
Storm Roles

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

2+ years of infrastructure experience (Linux, storage, or virtualization)
Preferred Qualifications:

Exposure to container platforms (OpenShift/Kubernetes)
-
Familiarity with Terraform or automation frameworks
-
Experience in regulated or utility environments
-
Working knowledge or exposure to NERC CIP standards and their impact on infrastructure operations and security
