Job description
Flexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 8 AM - 5 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor., Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer)., + Cartography: Create maps and figures using ArcGIS software.

Data Acquisition, Development, and Maintenance: Digitize GIS data, download datasets, create and maintain databases, develop schema, project coordinate systems, perform data entry, track metadata, and adhere to GIS data standards.

Analysis: Use geoprocessing and analytical tools to evaluate GIS data.

Web Mapping Application Development: Assist with applications using ArcGIS Online.

Graphic Design: Produce figures, charts, and graphics.Media Production: Create signs, posters, nameplates, and related materials using tools such as foam board cutters, large-format plotters, and cutting tables. Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation. Do you have experience in Tableau?, The California Energy Commission (CEC), Geographic Information System (GIS) Unit, is seeking to hire a motivated Student Assistant with strong attention to detail and a passion for GIS and public service. The student assistant will be working under the direct supervision of the GIS Unit Lead. The student assistant will support staff in completing progressively complex GIS tasks, including data collection, development and management, desktop GIS analysis, cartography, graphic design, media production, and web-based GIS development., Geograp hy, GIS, Environmental Studies, Computer Science, Engineering, Communication Studies, or any closely related field., * Students must be in good standing and have a minimum of 2.0 GPA or above.

- Ability to establish and maintain good work.
