Job description
Business Intelligence Analyst-PV, part of the PV Analytics Center of Excellence within Patient Safety (PS), is responsible for the hands-on execution of data analytics, reporting, and visualization activities supporting Pharmacovigilance/Drug Safety operations.
This role is highly execution-focused and requires deep, practical experience working directly with reporting tools and data systems. The candidate will support scientific, operational, and regulatory reporting needs by developing actionable insights, maintaining reporting environments, and enabling informed decision-making across Patient Safety (PS).
The role reports to the Associate Director, PV Analytics Center of Excellence and requires strong technical expertise combined with the ability to work cross-functionally and independently deliver high-quality analytics., Data Analytics & Reporting
- Build and continuously improve analytics models and dashboards to provide insights into efficiency, quality, KPIs, and stakeholder feedback
- Develop, maintain, and enhance reporting databases and analytics applications (SAP Business Objects, Power BI, SQL environments, and others)
- Independently build, modify, and troubleshoot reports and dashboards (hands-on execution required)
- Utilize internal systems and tools to streamline data retrieval and reduce manual processes
- Aggregate, query, and analyze data to generate actionable insights and answer key business questions
- Run recurring and ad hoc reports and present findings to leadership and stakeholders
- Support monthly reporting and quarterly business reviews (activities, outcomes, trends)
- Analyze stakeholder feedback/complaints and collaborate with functional leads to propose solutions
- Ensure data integrity, traceability, and accuracy throughout the data lifecycle
- Support validation activities including creation of validation plans, test scripts, and summary reports
- Contribute to process improvement, innovation initiatives, and reporting enhancements
- Provide metric reporting and analytics support for GBDS/Patient Safety initiatives
Requirements
Do you have experience in Technical Proficiency?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, Core Technical Expertise (Must-Have) SAP Business Objects (BO)
- Strong experience required (Version 4.3 preferred)
- Version 4.1 acceptable only if paired with strong overall experience and advanced Power BI skills
- Must be able to actively develop navigate reports
- Create and update semantic layer
Power BI
- Advanced level required (3-4+ years hands-on experience)
- Expertise in building interactive dashboards and data models
- Primary reporting tool (Tableau has been phased out)
SQL
- Advanced proficiency required
- Ability to independently query, manipulate, and analyze complex datasets
Additional Tools (Preferred):
- Spotfire (preferred, not required)
- Familiarity with Tableau (nice to have, not required if Power BI expertise is strong)
Domain Experience
- Pharmacovigilance / Drug Safety experience highly preferred
- Understanding of PV data structures, compliance reporting, KPIs, and trends
- Experience working with safety data and stakeholder-driven reporting

- Knowledge of data structures, taxonomies, and data governance concepts
- Experience with validation processes and documentation
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

- Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex stakeholder situations
- Self-starter with a hands-on, execution-focused mindset (not a purely managerial role)
- High level of integrity and confidentiality, * Strong hands-on experience with:

- Power BI (advanced, 3-4+ years)
- SQL (advanced querying and data manipulation)
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Build and maintain reports independently
- Troubleshoot data and reporting issues
- Deliver actionable insights to stakeholders
- Experience supporting Pharmacovigilance/Drug Safety analytics
- Comfortable working in evolving reporting environments and tools
