Job description
In this role, we're looking for an L3 Systems Engineer to serve as the highest technical resource on our team. You will own complex escalations, lead project delivery, and help set the technical standard for the entire service desk. This is a hands-on role in a shared queue environment: you work alongside the team, not above it., * Work within the shared service desk queue and resolve complex and escalated technical issues across all service areas
- Serve as the primary escalation point for technicians
- Lead and execute project work across all technical domains
- Collaborate with sales on project scoping to ensure technical accuracy and feasibility
- Provide real-time technical guidance and mentorship to team members
- Maintain thorough documentation and communicate all work to clients in accordance with SLA requirements
- Contribute to internal knowledge base and technical standards
Requirements
Do you have experience in Windows?, * 6 years of hands-on engineering experience or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical issues across a broad range of technologies and service areas
- Experience working within a ticketing system and RMM platform
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Comfortable working in a shared queue MSP environment
- Experience with project delivery and technical scoping
- Strong networking background in both design and support, including firewalls, switches, wireless infrastructure, VLANs, and VPN configuration
- Advanced experience with Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and domain management
- Advanced Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, and Entra ID
- Experience with Google Workspace administration
- Experience with backup solutions, DR planning, and BMR recovery
- Experience troubleshooting and supporting Windows 10/11 environments
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or equivalent)
- Experience with structured cabling and network infrastructure buildouts
- Familiarity with HIPAA or other compliance frameworks is a plus
- Must be local to Rochester, NY, or live in reasonable commuting distance
- Preferred certifications: Microsoft (MCSA, MS-900, AZ-900), CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent industry certifications, * IT support: 6 years (Required)
- Working for a MSP: 3 years (Preferred)
