Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior SQL Server DBA to support and optimize a mission-critical enterprise data environment within a highly regulated organization. This role is responsible for the administration, performance, security, availability, and scalability of SQL Server platforms while partnering closely with infrastructure, networking, data engineering, and business intelligence teams. The ideal candidate brings deep Microsoft SQL Server expertise, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and a broad understanding of how databases interact with systems, networks, security, and cloud-based data platforms. This individual will play a key role in supporting both operational database environments and strategic data initiatives involving Azure and modern data engineering technologies., * Administer, monitor, maintain, and optimize enterprise SQL Server environments, including Always On Availability Groups, high availability, disaster recovery, backups, upgrades, and patching.

  • Ensure the performance, reliability, scalability, and availability of mission-critical database systems through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, query tuning, indexing strategies, and resource optimization.
  • Implement and maintain database security, access controls, encryption, auditing, and compliance standards while supporting governance, risk management, and audit initiatives.
  • Support hybrid data platforms spanning SQL Server, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Azure Data Lake, including database migrations, schema changes, and data transformation efforts.
  • Collaborate with data engineering, development, infrastructure, networking, and DevOps teams to design, deploy, and support reliable data solutions.
  • Assist with business intelligence, analytics, and real-time data integration initiatives while providing database architecture and operational best-practice guidance.
  • Participate in production support, incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts across the data platform.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of SQL Server DBA experience in enterprise environments.
  • Expertise with SQL Server 2019/2022 administration and support.
  • Strong experience with Always On Availability Groups, High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR), performance tuning, and database security.
  • Advanced T-SQL skills, including stored procedures, query optimization, execution plan analysis, and index management.
  • Experience supporting hybrid on-premises and Azure-based data platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Azure Data Lake.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of infrastructure, networking, and Active Directory concepts as they relate to database environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical teams.
