About the company

The Institute of Applied Computing and Community Code (IAC3, http://iac3.uib.es) is seeking scientific software developers to join our team and contribute to computational activities within the knowledge generation programme 'New Breakthroughs in Gravitational-Wave Astronomy with Advanced Detectors' (PID2024-156460NA-I00), supported by the Spanish National Research Council. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing software packages used for numerical relativity simulations, modelling gravitational wave sources (a central role for the position), and data analysis from gravitational wave interferometers. Solid prior experience in gravitational-wave astronomy will be highly regarded, as well as familiarity with the associated scientific context. The position offers the chance to directly support the scientific goals of the Veni programme, focused on maximising the science output of current and future gravitational wave experiments (LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA, Einstein Telescope and LISA) within large-scale international collaborations, where prior experience in such environments is highly recommended and regarded. Main responsibilities: - Implement and optimise algorithms for data processing, waveform modelling (a key element of the position) and parameter estimation - Ensure all software is well-documented - Actively contribute to data analysis and scientific publications. About IAC3 and the GRAVITY group: IAC3 is an interdisciplinary research centre home to over 60 researchers from six consolidated research groups within the departments of physics, mathematics and computer science at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). Research in the context of the Veni research programme (Veni.222.396) focuses on numerical relativity, waveform modelling and gravitational-wave data analysis. The group has access to its own high-performance computing cluster, as well as to external resources such as the MareNostrum supercomputer and the LIGO Data Grid. Moreover, it is an active member of leading international collaborations. The group comprises PIs Alicia Sintes and Sascha Husa, and faculty members David Keitel, Xisco JiménezForteza, Antoni Ramos, Cecilio Garcia, Pep Covas, Ornella Piccini and Jaume Carot, as well as several postdoctoral researchers and PhD students. For further details, see http://grg.uib.es. PI: Dr. Antoni Ramos Buades
