This is a systems integration role. Civan has deep internal expertise in lasers, optics, and photonics. The priority for this position is a practical engineering integrator who can work across customer requirements, manufacturing automation, technical interfaces, test activity, and global engineering teams.

The ideal candidate has experience with automation, manufacturing systems, robotics, gimbals, stabilized payloads, industrial machinery, or complex defense systems. Defense prime or Tier 1 supplier experience is preferred.

The Systems Engineer will help translate U.S. customer needs into clear engineering requirements, interface definitions, test plans, and executable technical actions.

This person will work with customers, application teams, U.S. operations, and Civan's global engineering organization to support system integration, technical problem-solving, and customer execution.

The role may support industrial laser processing systems, material processing support equipment, free-space optical communications integration, and early U.S.-based assembly, test, or field support activity., * Capture, clarify, and translate customer requirements into engineering actions.

  • Support integration of Civan laser systems into customer equipment, production systems, test environments, and field applications.
  • Work directly with U.S. customers, including defense primes, industrial manufacturers, and advanced technology integrators.
  • Coordinate technical issues between U.S. customers, U.S. operations, and global engineering teams.
  • Support requirements documentation, interface control, test planning, acceptance testing, troubleshooting, and issue tracking.
  • Help define system-level integration needs across laser source, controls, automation, motion systems, sensors, safety systems, fixturing, and production support equipment.
  • Support material processing system integration, including seam tracking, gas management, shield gas delivery, wire feeders, motion platforms, sensors, and related support systems.
  • Support free-space optical communications / OCT-related integration where needed, including customer and integrator requirement translation.
  • Assist with early U.S. assembly, test, commissioning, and field support activity as the U.S. business scales.
  • Provide disciplined technical feedback to internal engineering teams based on customer requirements, field performance, and integration lessons learned.
  • Help build repeatable engineering processes, documentation standards, and customer support methods for the U.S. operation., This role is based in Greenfield, Indiana, near Indianapolis. Regular on-site presence is expected.

Why This Role Matters

Travel may be required to support customer meetings, integration activity, application testing, field troubleshooting, and coordination with Civan engineering teams.

Civan is expanding its U.S. technical and operational footprint. This role will help convert customer requirements into disciplined engineering execution and support the company's growth across industrial, defense, and advanced technology markets.

The Systems Engineer will be a key link between customer needs, application work, manufacturing realities, and engineering delivery.
