Job description

TEC Systems Group, Inc. is seeking a Data Engineer to join our dynamic and collaborative team in Wichita, KS. In this role, you'll work alongside a passionate group of data professionals-including Data Engineers, Data Visualization Analysts, Business Intelligence Developers, and Data Scientists-to design, build, and optimize data solutions that empower smarter decisions.

As a Data Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership and data expertise to fellow data professionals and Control Systems Engineers. Together, you'll acquire and deliver data, build and maintain data warehouses, develop reports and KPIs, and create analytics solutions that turn data into insight.

At TEC Systems Group, you'll have the opportunity to work across a variety of platforms, including OSIsoft PI, Ignition, Power BI, MS SQL, Azure, and other cloud-based and reporting systems.

What You'll Do

  • Lead data engineering initiatives, primarily utilizing the Microsoft Data Stack.
  • Provide ongoing technical mentorship to a diverse team with varying skill levels.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure successful project completion and timely delivery.
  • Offer technical consulting during the design and development of data pipelines, data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL solutions.
  • Design and develop Dimensional Data Models for data warehousing and OLAP systems.
  • Execute complex data extraction and ETL processes, ensuring data quality and consistency.
  • Continuously evolve and optimize data processes in line with industry best practices.
  • Ingest and process data from various sources, including raw, structured, semi-structured, and unstructured formats.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of quality assurance standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate daily with team members, management, and customers to manage data projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Conduct regular peer reviews, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships within the team and across the company, fostering open communication, trust, and mutual respect.
  • Uphold the highest standards of integrity and trustworthiness, ensuring strict adherence to data privacy regulations, including HIPAA, when handling sensitive customer information.

Requirements

  • Experience with Azure Data Factory or other data orchestration tools (including SSIS)
  • Knowledge of Azure Synapse Analyticsor similar analytics platforms
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark, or other programming languages
  • Experience with Azure DevOps preferred; GitHubor Git experience also acceptable
  • Experience with Ignition and/or OSIsoft PIis a plus
  • Experience creating and maintaining data warehouses and data lakes, both on-premises and in the cloud, * 3+ years in a technical position
  • 3+ years working with SQL
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical data-related concepts clearly to both internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong documentation, organization, and time management skills
