Job description

Data Engineer & Database Administrator III will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines while ensuring high-performance, secure, and reliable database systems. This role combines data engineering and database administration expertise, supporting analytics, engineering, and product teams with clean, timely, and well-structured data. The position also includes technical leadership responsibilities, including mentoring junior engineers and driving data architecture decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5-8 years of experience in data engineering or database administration
  • Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Amazon Redshift
  • Solid SQL expertise for both transactional and analytical workloads
  • Experience with AWS data services (S3, Glue, Lambda, RDS, Redshift)
  • Strong understanding of database performance tuning and optimization

Required Qualifications: For Level II

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-5 years of experience in Data Engineering, Database Administration, or related roles
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Amazon Redshift
  • Solid SQL skills for transactional and analytical workloads
  • Hands-on experience with AWS data and database services
  • Experience with ETL/ELT pipeline development and workflow orchestration tools

Technical Skills:

  • Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Amazon Redshift
  • SQL (advanced querying, tuning, optimization)
  • AWS Data Stack: S3, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, Kinesis, RDS
  • Programming/Scripting: Python or similar
  • Workflow orchestration: Airflow, Step Functions
  • Database administration: replication, sharding, indexing, backups, clustering
  • Monitoring tools: CloudWatch, pgBadger, MongoDB Atlas
  • Data pipeline development (ETL/ELT)

Preferred / Nice to Have:

  • Kafka or Kinesis streaming experience
  • dbt (data build tool) experience
  • Data lake / lakehouse (Delta Lake, AWS Lake Formation)
  • Terraform or CloudFormation
  • CI/CD for data pipelines
  • Basic DevOps experience
